Complex
Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions,
divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned
you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
3. Pride
Nebuchadnezzar
Pride doesn’t allow us to accept that we may need help
Can’t stomach someone is more capable than us to help
Makes us fear that others will think of us as weak
Makes us believe we know all
Makes us take people for granted
Daniel 3:15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp,
pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I
made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into
a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
4. Envy
Envy makes us want to see someone fall from grace
It won’t allow us to see the good in others
We cannot accept help from someone we are envious of
We will be busy trying to do bad without noticing any good that done to us
Brothers of JOSEPH
Genesis 37:12

Shechem, and Israel said to Joseph, “As you know, your brothers
are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I am going to send
you to them.”
“Very well,” he replied.
5. Complex Inferior Feeling of SAUL
• Inferiority complex may make us act superior
• May ridicule good deeds
• We will try to find fault and fault alone
1 Samuel 18:7,8 As they danced, they sang: “Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands.”
Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly. “They have credited
David with tens of thousands,” he thought, “but me with only thousands. What
more can he get but the kingdom? ”
6. Hatred
• Makes us focus only on the bad
• May not even notice any good deed
• We can interpret capability as
corruption
Haman hated Mordecai
Esther 3:5,6 When Haman saw that Mordecai would
not kneel down or pay him honor, he was enraged. Yet
having learned who Mordecai’s people were, he
scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead
Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s
people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of
Xerxes
7. Greed
• Our eyes get blinded to see good
• As we want to surpass the person under question, we may even interpret good as bad
• We may even purposely return bad for good
Absalom
2 Samuel 15:3,4 Then Absalom would say to him, “Look, your claims are valid and proper,
but there is no representative of the king to hear you.” And Absalom would add, “If only I
were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come
to me and I would see that they receive justice.”
