History?
• God’s love story with us from Creation to Parousia
• His Love is so great that He emptied Himself to be
with us
• His Love is so great that He died for our sins
• His Love is so great that He wants to be with us in
eternity

• God created man and woman in His image and likeness

5. Adam and Eve
• Adam and Eve was in the garden of Eden and was
told by God not to eat the apple
• Satan then convinced Eve to eat it and Eve gave it to
Adam to eat it too, thereby committing the original
sin and got separated from God
• God already knew from this day that He has to
deliver man from their sinful ways and restore them
to Him

6. Noah and the Great Flood
• The earth was corrupt in God’s sight and
full of violence
• God said to Noah “I am going to put an
end to all people, for the earth is filled
with violence because of them. I am
surely going to destroy both them and
the earth.”
• God ask Noah to build an ark to house
the animals and 8 members of Noah’s
family because God will send rain for
forty days to flood the earth, to cleanse
the earth
• When the flood finally subsided, there
was a rainbow and God made a Noahic
covenant with all the people never to
destroy the earth again

7. Abraham and Isaac
• God commanded Abraham to leave the land of idolatry and He will
show him the way. Abraham’s journey led him to the land of Canaan or
known as Palestine today
• God promised Abraham a son and Sarah gave birth to Isaac at an old
age of 90
• God then asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to prove his faith to God
• Abraham obeyed but God said to Abraham “Don’t lay your hand on the
youth!” he said. “Don’t do anything to him, because I’ve just
demonstrated that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son,
your only unique one, from me.”
• After God spared Isaac and Abraham saw the ram caught in the bush he
called the place “The Lord will provide”.

8. Joseph and Israelites
in Egypt
• Pharaoh had a dream and no one could interpret it except
Joseph
• Pharaoh believed Joseph and made him second in command to
manage the land and the produce
• Seven years of bounty harvest followed by seven years of
famine, and everyone went to Egypt to buy grains during the
famine
• From here many people settled in Egypt and flourished
• Then came a Pharaoh who didn’t regard Joseph well decided
to oppress the Israelites and made them slaves in Egypt

Israelites from Slavery in Egypt
• Moses was born to Levi couple and the woman put him in a papyrus
basket and floated him down the river Nile
• Moses was picked up by the Pharaoh’s daughter while bathing in the
river and raised him
• God appeared to Moses in the burning bush and asked Moses to liberate
His people from slavery in Egypt
• Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and parted the sea for the Israelites
to cross
• The people turned to idolatry and subsequently God gave Moses the ten
commandments
• God made the Mosiac covenant with the people

10. King David and King
Solomon
• King David was son the Jesse who was a descendant of Judah and was a
descendant of Jacob(later named as Israel) who was the son of Isaac
who is the son of Abraham
• David was faithful to God and kept the ark in the middle of the city to
remind the people of God
• God promised David that he will have a everlasting kingdom and he will
have a son
• Later Solomon built the first Jewish temple in Jerusalem and put the ark
in the centre to remind people that God is the centre of life
• Solomon was good but later become corrupted worshipping pagan
gods. Israel became weak and later became divided and was later
conquered by the Babylonians and the Jews were taken into exile from
Israel

13. Birth and Life of Jesus Christ
• Jesus was born between 6-4 BC of the
virgin Mary, full of grace, and Joseph, a
descendant from King David as promised
by God
• “The Word became flesh” CCC 461
• Jesus is the second person in the trinity
and He is fully divine and fully human
• We profess this fact of our faith in
the Nicene creed
• Jesus began preaching at the age of 30
years old for about 3-4 years
• Jesus clearly mentioned about His
divinity nature throughout His
preaching by casting out demons,
performing miracles and raising
the dead

• Jesus triumphal entry into
Jerusalem on a donkey
• Jesus washes the feet of the
disciples to set the example of
humility through love for His people
• Jesus gave a new
commandment "to love one
another as I have loved you"
• Jesus instituted the Eucharistic
covenant during the last supper and
asked that we do this in
remembrance of Him
• The breaking of bread, it is by
this action that the disciples
will recognise Him after His

• Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane and ask God if this cup
can pass him by showing the human side of Him
• Jesus was betrayed by Judah Iscariot and was sentenced to death
by Pontius Pilate
• The death of Jesus Christ who is fully divine and fully human pay
in full for all our sins
• He delivered justice and mercy at the same time through
His death on the cross
• Salvation is made possible by the grace God – it is only by
His grace that we are saved, salvation cannot be earned
• When God spared Isaac somewhere around 2000 BC, 2,000 years
later God became man in the second person of the trinity and
died for us on the cross in the person of Jesus Christ, our Lord and
Savior.
• John 3: 16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his
one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”

• Christ descended into hell after death
• The descent into hell brings the Gospel message of
salvation to complete fulfilment. CCC 634
• The resurrection of Jesus is the crowning truth of our faith in
Christ. A faith believed and lived as the central truth by the
first Christian community. CCC 638
• God’s love ultimately overcome death, and we are asked
to live this love to the fullest
• Subsequently Christ appeared to His disciples and ate with
them
• By means of touch and the sharing of meals, the risen
Jesus establishes direct contact with His disciples. CCC
645
• Proving that He is not a ghost but a risen body

• 40 days after his resurrection, Jesus ascended to
heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father
• This final stage stays closely linked to the first, that
is, to His descent from heaven in the Incarnation.
Only the one who came from the Father can return
to the Father: Christ Jesus. Only Christ can open to
man such access that we, His members, might have
confidence that we too shall go where He, our Head
and our Source, has preceded us. CCC 661

• On Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles as
promised by Jesus to support them in their proclamation of
God’s work
• Very clearly the better to signify the gift of the Holy Spirit, an
anointing with perfumed oil (chrism) was added to the laying
of hands. Christian means the anointed one CCC 1289
• Receiving your confirmation completes your second anointing
and it signifies the participation of the one baptized in the
prophetic, priestly and kingly office of Christ. CCC 1291

the apostles preached profusely and caught the
attention of the Sanhedrins
• In reply, Peter said to them “Jesus is ‘the stone

cornerstone’.”
• They performed miracles and healed many people

• Acts 2:42 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’
teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and
to prayer.
• These communities devoted themselves to the teaching
of the apostles and to communal life, to the breaking of
bread and to prayer.
• So the early church sold their property and possessions
and divided them among all according to each one’s need.
There was genuine concern for the poor and needy.

• Acts 5:17 – Then the high priest and all his associates, who were
members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy
• Stephen recounted the story of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph and at
the end said this ” “You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still
uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy
Spirit! 52 Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not
persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the
Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him— 53 you
who have received the law that was given through angels but have not
obeyed it.”
• The members of Sanhedrins were furious after hearing this and had
Stephen stoned.
• One of the witness was a young man named Saul who later
become St. Paul, one of the apostles

• Paul was Jewish leader in charge of
persecuting the believers
• Paul wasn’t a follower of Christ before his
conversion
• On his way from Jerusalem to Damascus
in Syria, his journey was interrupted by a
blinding light and communicates directly
with a divine voice.
• "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute
me?”
• "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked.
• "I am Jesus, whom you are
persecuting," he replied. "Now get
up and go into the city, and you
will be told what you must do.”

• It was estimated by scholars that Paul
wrote 28% of the New Testament
