– Job
God allows Satan to inflict suffering on Job
Job did not grumble, complain or dishonour God
Instead he gave thanksgiving and praises to God
God eventually blessed him with twice as much as he had before
– 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances”

– Joseph
Joseph was put in prison
He didn’t grumble but was thankful to God
Many years later he becomes the Governor of the land
– By being grateful, even the most painful situations can be overcome
– In life we have ups and downs but if we learn to be thankful in each
level we will have continual progress in life.

– Genesis 12:2 "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I
will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
– Galatians 3:14a “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to
Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus”

The night before he was killed he gave thanks before breaking bread and
offering his body and blood.
– Even if thanking God doesn’t change the situation, it will change our
perspective. We will begin to see God’s great purpose
– When we walk with a thankful heart God reveals his purposes

– Critics
People who are not only ungrateful but also find fault in everything.
– Ungrateful People
People who do not appreciate the blessings of God.
– Selectively Thankful People
People who say thanks for the Money but not for the Honey.
