Possible contingencies:
- Children talking at the same time when teacher asks questions. Strategy:
teacher encouraging children to sing the silence song
- Youngest children (2 and 3 years old) getting distracted. Strategy:
teacher approaching children and praising their work.
- Children so shy and getting difficulties to speak. Strategy: teacher
encouraging children to speak.
Classroom management strategies:
- Start each activity explaining what it is, using the following pattern:

- Using mimes and gestures to help children understand

Lesson stages:
Lead-in and presentation
Purpose:
- To introduce routine greetings so we can use them in following lessons.
- To learn the Hello song and its vocabulary: happy, jump , turn around
Timing: 8 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students(include direct speech)
- Tell children we are going to learn how to greet each other in English by
hearing a song
- Tell them we are going to sing this song at the beginning of our lessons (
so they have to learn it)
- Play the audio and sing the song, acting the audio
- Sing and dance the song together
Note: all the instructions and explanations will be said using the
following pattern: L2+L1+L2
Scaffolding strategies
- Make sure they have understood what to do by asking questions in L1 if
necessary
- Encourage them to speak English by praising them every time they say
anything in English with different comments like: Excellent! Very Good!

4. - If children use L1, respond in English
Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the
next one
- “So now you have learnt the hello song, let´s go to the classroom and let
´s say our names”
(Teacher invites children to go to the classroom because the Hello song
will be sang in the hall)
Development of the sequence of activities
Activity one:
Purpose:
-To introduce each other.
- To develop oral skills.
Timing: 15 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students(include direct speech)
- Show children the finger puppets and say: “do you like puppets? O.K,
these puppets speak English and they will help us to introduce
ourselves”.
- Use a finger puppet and act out the following:
o What´s your name? ;
o “My name is Vanesa” ;
o “How are you?”;
o “I am happy.”
- Tell them that they are going to do the same, by asking their partners
- Give a finger puppet to each child

- Encourage them to do the oral activity.
Scaffolding strategies
5. - Repeat the dialogue as many times as necessary;
- Encourage them to speak English by praising them;
- Act the dialogue out with my finger puppets and encourage them to do
the same after me;
- Make positive comments on their performance.

Closure
Purpose:
- To say goodbye
- To learn the goodbye song
Timing: 5 minutes
Activity description and instructions are they will be said to
students (include direct speech)
- Tell everybody that they have done a wonderful job work and that I will
see them again next Tuesday.
- Give them these images and encourage them to raise the correct one
according with the song.
Image number 1: We all had so much fun
Image number 2: It´s time to go home
- First time, the teacher raises images too, and then they have to do it
alone.
