3. INTRODUCTION TO CPOH
The central periodic over-hauling (CPOH) is situated at
Dhumanganj Allahabad.
CPOH Allahabad is one of the three training Centers of the
world, besides at Linz/Austria & Watford/U.K., imparting
training in Track Machine technology.
Railway Board on 17.05.1984 to meet the needs of training in
all the sub-disciplines related to the operation and maintenance
of track machines on Indian Railways.

CSM is also known as continuous tamping machine.

5. FUNCTION OF CSM
There are followings main function of CSM-
Lifting and Lining
Assembling the Lifting roller clamp assembly
Packing of sleepers
Hold the sleepers
Grease the plastic bushing and drive pre-assembled clamp
sleeve

6. INTRODUCTION TO POWER TRANSMISSION
METHODS
There are following methods of power-transmission.
“V” belt drive transmission
Chain drive transmission
Pulley drive transmission
Gear drive transmission

7. “V” belt drive transmission-
Power is transmitted from one point to the another.
Power transmission is affected on account of wear and
tear and slippage etc.

8. Chain drive transmission-
In this method chain is interlinked and power
transmission takes place.

9. Pulley drive transmission-
This is also a method of power transmission in pulleys
is used and we get mechanical advantages by the fixed
support.

10. Gear drive transmission-
Gears are used for transfer of power from one point to
another.
There are two gears which are connected to each other
one is drive gear and the another driven gear.

11. POWER TRANSMISSION IN CSM
Transmission System consisting of various types of
gear boxes and related assemblies viz Cardon Shaft
etc.

12. There are mainly six gears are used for the power
transmission in CSM.
1) Reduction gears
2) Satellite gear
3) ZF gear
4) Distributor gear
5) Axle gear
6) Funk gear

13. INDUSTRIAL SPECIFICATIONS
These specification are laid down for a robust and track
tamping/lining, lifting and leveling high output machine.
As the machine may be required to work for a number of
passes at a sit to improve the track geometry.
The machine should be capable of giving substantially high
output.
