THE EVOLUTION OF THE
LATIN LANGUAGE
THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY
We may not have a long history on earth but there is enough material in it to go through and understand which wrong steps
we took and how to avoid them in the future. Because if we don't analyze our mistakes and improve ourselves accordingly,
we are dooming our future generations with eternal failure.
There are things from our past which have had deep effect on our culture and society. Studying them can help us develop a
better understanding of the way our ancestors used to live. We can see how different their lives were from us, and not only
because they didn’t have modern technology, but also the way things used to be in the past.
By studying history, we will learn about the things that have faded out of existence but
were important in the past. We will begin to understand about the difficulties our
ancestors faced and be able to appreciate their achievements.
We often think of our lives as full of problems without realizing that the world always
had issues.
The earliest humans may have not had to worry about going to work every day to earn
their livelihood, but they had no shelter and had to fight wild animals to survive.
HOW DID FOLKLORES COME TO US?
Every era had its problems, but it also had its glorious achievements too. Being able to come together and develop
relationships with different communities is an achievement.
All the folklores and fairy tales that were handed down to us by our ancestors and entertain our kids today are proof
that humanity always produced creative writers. We also always had painters, the people who loved colors and saw
the world in a different way than the rest of us.
We may have a thorough
knowledge of many things today,
but we can’t refuse to accept that it
was our ancestors who laid the
foundations of the languages we
speak today and the cultures we
practice.
THE LATIN
LANGUAGE
Latin is a very fascinating language, which is why despite not having
native speakers, it is still spoken and understand by a considerable
number of people. These people learn the tongue because of its
history.
Their knowledge allows them to understand ancient texts. Here are a
few interesting facts about this language:
1. Ancient Rome
It was in a way, the official language of Ancient
Rome where it was spoken by both the elite and
the working class.
The Vulgar Latin was the variety spoken by the
common public, which is why it was given such a
name. It was not posh and was also regularly
updated by its speakers.
The version spoken by the educated class of the
society was called Classical Latin.

Influence on Subjects2.
3. The Church Connection
A lot of subjects and fields’ names were taken from Latin. You can pick
any field today and you will see a few words from this ancient tongue.
Even every new species of plants and animals is also named in this
language.
Not only is it the language of the Vatican, it is also used by the people
of the Roman Catholic Church if their mother tongues are not the
same. A lot of ceremonies in the Vatican are held in this tongue. Prayers
are also said in Latin words.
4. No Change
One of the reasons why Latin is very much in use today is that does not
undergo any changes. It is probably the only tongue you can rely on to
stay the same. Since it does not have any native speakers, the students
don’t make any changes in the vocabulary, neither do they updated any
rules. This is also why it is chosen to name species in because it will
remain the same.
THE LATIN
LANGUAGE 3. The Church Connection
All the Romance languages originated from Vulgar Latin in some way.
Many of them, including English have plenty of ancient words in their
vocabulary even today. They are called Romance languages because
their parent tongue was spoken by the Roman Empire in the past.
Not only is it the language of the Vatican, it is also used by the people
of the Roman Catholic Church if their mother tongues are not the
same. A lot of ceremonies in the Vatican are held in this tongue. Prayers
are also said in Latin words.
4. Communication Between Scholars
During the Medieval Times, it was used as the means of communication
between international scholars. Whenever intellectuals from different
parts of the world gathered to discuss an issue, they used it as their means
of communication if they didn’t know each other’s mother tongue. This
also increased the importance of Latin. Many ancient classics were also
written in this tongue and were later translated into different languages.
5. Romance Languages
It has been a long time since the world had native speakers for Latin, but that hasn't stopped people from learning and
speaking the tongue. Many linguists continue to be fascinated by it.
