2. We began filming with equipment not used before Canon EOS 650D, this was used for both filming the video and
taking stills used in the ancillary tasks. Focus and unfocus were vital elements of this new camera as the different
shots and stills could be used to create significant effects that a certain scene or picture needed. For example
close ups were in focus due to the clarity needed for understanding the lip syncs. Tripods and different lighting
equipment was also used and experimented with to show different mood and atmospheres throughout.
During the post – production stage familiar technologies were used to finish the music video.
These being the Imacs and Imovie, my confidence in using these was high as many videos and
forms of editing had been used prior to the video. Manipulating shots through different
effects was useful for example black and white shots, also the use of green screen which was
new to me aided the videos feel. Moreover slow motion and reverse was used in some scenes
to give the feeling of a slower more chilled out teenage lifestyle.
Precision editor was also imperative especially for the lip syncing parts of the video as gaining
perfection with the audio and visuals would have been near impossible without it.
Construction of both the advert and digipak started with editing contrasts and saturations of
pictures in Photoshop to give them a more professional and clean look. The pictures were
then moved into Fireworks where text was added and shapes for the ratings too. Lastly the
digipak photos were grouped together and placed into InDesign where final manipulations
were made. The only problem encountered was the inability to place an InDesign document
on my blog therefore I used screen grab to copy the finished digipak onto the blog.
3. The research process, consisted of gaining information on the artist and the record label through using Google. After this
information was gained and used to aid research into a target audience, I placed my findings into PowerPoint and also used
prezi. PowerPoint was a fairly simple programme to use as I have been using it since a young age. However prezi was a little
more complicated however after finding out how different branches made transitions to each other it became easy and is a
good way of presenting information in an interesting way.
When researching the target audience and overall research about audiences preferences and dislikes in music videos, I used
Imovie to create videos that comprised information gained. Using videos to show findings is definitely a good way to attract
attention and viewers as the videos incorporated different audio and visual effects.
Different effects on Imovie also make the videos created a lot more visually appealing and shows the creators imagination,
through different abilities that the technology allows, such as picture in picture which allows the viewer to watch the
person in questions reaction to a medium.
Facebook and twitter also gave information as to who supported The Specials and who would make up their fans and our target
audience. These new media technologies became very useful as I could see the exact largeness of fans the group has.
The internet ultimately helped with research into the ancillary tasks as analysis’ were looked at and also images were used to
see professional examples. Whilst PowerPoint and prezi were used to show the info gained.

5. The planning stage included using a scanner to import each individual picture from our
storyboard onto a usb and then into Imovie to create the animatic. When in Imovie the
soundtrack was then imported and the visuals and audio became matched through precision
editor. The animatic gave a feel for how long certain shots should be used for and how the
connections with the music would look. Such processes allowed for analysing the first way the
video would look and therefore allowed for small and significant changes to the final music
video when filming.
With the planning of the digipak and the advertisement using prior information and research
(created in PowerPoint and prezi) was vital as this ultimately determined the way they should
look and the institutional and promotional text needed. Different pictures and edits were
used when deciding what would look best and these edits took place in Fireworks and
Photoshop. Fireworks is a good programme for exact measurements and sizes that different
elements of each ancillary task needed. Moreover the layout was looked at through using
InDesign which gave an overview of the whole product.
6. During the evaluation new technologies were very useful in presenting thoughts in an
imaginative manner. The first and last questions were done using PowerPoint, I also used
grab to get screen shots from YouTube when comparing my video to professional ones. In
addition different font and images from the internet to convey information visually. The
PowerPoint's were then added to my Slide Share account whereby I posted them on my blog.
For the next question I used Imovie to create a video to explain the significance of audience
feedback. I added different music instrumentals throughout the video for a lively atmosphere,
using YouTube and YouTube converter to mp3 to download them. Furthermore I used
voiceover when explaining different points rather than simply using text as the video looked
more interesting. Also the presentation was interactive and professional as I was in control at
all times of what the audience views.
For the third question Prezi was used this is an exciting way of presenting as it takes the
reader on a journey through valuable stages and answers that were required to be written
about. Also information becomes clearer and images and video links can easily be placed
upon the Prezi therefore enabling an interesting outlook upon a question.
