4. Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the
condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual,
financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological,
educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage,
error, accidents, harm or any other event which could be
considered non-desirable

from exposure to something that causes health or economical
losses. It can include protection of people or of possessions.
Instead, when you hear the word safety, think of it as a word
that applies to the way you do everything in life. Think of it as a
procedure to keep you from harm.

6. the word safety refers to your freedom from danger, injury
and damage, and to your personal security. The word safety has
been used so often that many of you may think of it as a
"Preaching Word", or a word that forces you to alter your ways
or change bad habits.

9. An Accident:
An accident is an incident plus its consequences; the end of product
of a sequences of events or actions resulting in an undesired
consequences(Injury, Property damages,interruption,delay).
An accidents can be defined more formally as an undesired event,
which results in physical harm and property damage, usually
resulting from contact with a source of energy above the ability of
the body or structure to withstand it.

10. An Injury: An injury is thus a consequences of an incident-but not
the only possible one. it has been shown that hundreds of incidents
occurs in the construction industry for every one that causes injury
or loss.
Hazard ;Hazard means the inherent property or ability of some
thing to cause harm –the potential to interrupt or interfere with a
process or person. Hazards may arise from interacting or
influencing components for example two chemical interacting to
produce a third

11. Risk: Risk is the chance or probability of loss, an
evaluation of the potential for failure .it is easy to
confuse the terms Hazards and risk but a simple way to
remember the difference is that hazard describes
potential to harm, risk is the likelihood that harm will
result in the particular situation or circumstance,
coupled with a measure of the degree of severity of
that harm.

condition which has the potential to cause
harm to people, equipment and environment.
 Risk: Risk is the probability that an incident
will occur and the severity of the outcome.
Risk is graded into low, medium and high.
 Accident: Accident is an unexpected and
unwanted occurrence which could result to
injury to persons, damage to equipment,
materials or environment

14. Employer is main stake holder of any construction project.
Employer is financing and he can be heard easily .
Employer should ask health and safety practices during bid
phase.
Employer must include special clause about health & Safety in
Contract document.

Designer must focuse on construction methodology .
Designer must be identified in potential hazard .
Designer should avoid a design which seem impractical to
achieve

16. Main contractor should be responsible for safety of
construction worker.
Main contractor should hire a safety engineer.
Main contractor should traine staff for safe working
environment

17. Main contractor should spend money on PPE
Main contractor should be able to assign work to a trained
worker to that specific job.
Basic facility should be provided on site like MI room, nurse
and ambulance

18. Main contractor should prepare policy for health and safety
Main contractor should do Job Safety Analysis
Main contractor must report accident and incident.
Main contractor should avoid untrained worker or provide
basic training to them
