2. TARGET AUDIENCE - AGE
The target audience for the music magazine “Record” is about
16 – 25 as the contents of the magazine is for older
teenagers and for young adults. As it is more alternative rock,
the audience would relate to the music as people in the bands
that are being featured in the magazine are around the same
age and so this would make the bands more relatable as the
people are the same age group. The age of the target
audience is important because otherwise the magazine might
have material in it for an older or younger age ground and so
the material for the target audience would not be right.
3. TARGET AUDIENCE - GENDER
“Record” magazine is aimed mostly at males, despite the fact
that there is a female on the front cover. The genre of
alternative rock is mostly listened to by males and so the
colour scheme, although it can be called gender neutral, it is
aimed slightly at males. There is a male and a female in the
contents page which keeps it balanced.
4. PROFILE OF TARGET AUDIENCE.
A typical person that is in the target audience for “Record” is
a male who enjoys going to concerts and gigs of their favorite
bands, they also enjoys going to festivals. He and enjoys
playing guitar and is in a band with his friends. He shops at
places like HMV for DVDs and CDs. He enjoys going to the
cinema to watch movies and enjoys the genre of
action/adventure most of all. He shops online every now and
then if he can’t get what he wants in a shop. He uses websites
like Play.com or Amazon.co.uk.
