1. The Package Evaluation
For my film I only involved two people having a conversation. Theidea of
someone delivering a packagecame from wondering why two people where to
have a conversation which was the set task. Therefore having someone
delivering another person’s packagewill give a reason for them to havea
conversation.
My firstshotwas a walking shotwherethe actor with the delivery was walking
to the office to deliver this parcel. This took a few shots as walking whilst trying
to keep a steady hand but get the effect of someonewalking was quite difficult
but never the less was finally done after three takes. I also had to include a
medium close up shotin this but also get the package into the shotso that the
audience knew the importance of the package and wasn’tgoing to justbe a
prop. I got the actor to walk through the door in the firstshoteven though I
was going to have to have another shot of him coming through the door for
the movement styleshot, however this was usefulbecause when it came to
editing I could cut the first shotas the actor touches the door handle and it will
look smooth and is if it was all taken in a single shotbecause the actor was still
moving in the firstshot anyway.
My second shotwas of the actor walking through the door but this shot was
taken frominside the room. This took a few takes to get correct as well
because fromwalking through the door it needed to be closed and then the
actor with the package need to walk over to the desk and say his lines however
stop just beforeso that I could get the second actor involved in the shot for the
audience to then know someoneelse is in the room. However when trying to
create this the second actor was always outof sight so I came to the conclusion
of having to adjustwhere I was filming to make this possible.
The third shot is whereI used a 180 degreerule for the conversation. This
scene had to be completely re made as when looking back on it the 180 degree
rule was broken by me filming from different sides of people when it came to
seeing them speak. ThereforeI had to go back and make Itcorrectby staying
the sameside when alternating the view of who was speaking.
For the fourth shotthe two actors weresat down at the office desk carrying on
their conversation. I had to get a wide angle shotof the actor with the parcel
walking to sit down at the desk. I then had the job of making surethat the box
2. and the actors hand were always in the same place when taking the next take
for the edit becauseit wouldn’tmake senseif the box was open in one shot
but closed in the other withoutanyone closing it. I took a few takes of this
scene as it was the main parttherefore if anything wasn’trightwhen it came
to editing I could take a part of another shot I too of that scene and add it in
instead of re-recording.
For the final scene I had a wide angle of the actor leaving the roomwithout the
parcel. This was all taken in one shot as it was a simple shot becausethe actor
justneeded to walk and open and close the door so I took that all in one take.
