Introduction to Pronouns: A Collective of Info on Spanish Pronouns
AIM: What are the various (major) types of pronouns in Spanish? How can we identify
them?
"What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun.
Here are a few examples: he, she, it, they, someone, who
That means that a pronoun can do all of the things that a noun can do. It can be modified
by an adjective, and it can perform any of the noun jobs in a sentence (subject, direct
object, indirect object, object of the preposition).
Heck, the word pronoun even has the word noun in it!
What is a pronoun? It is a word that takes the place of a noun. "

"Definition: pronouns in Spanish are used almost, in Spanish they do not need to be
expressed since the verb itself will identify the subject, In Spanish, a pronoun is only
needed when refering to a third person (singular or plural) for proper identification
purposes since it can be a "she", a "he" or even a formal second person singular. In the
plural, the verb ending could be referring to a "they" (masculine or feminine) or to
"ustedes", a form of the second person plural used by everyone in all the Hispanic
countries, except in Spain, where "vosotros" is preferred. "

"Put another way, because the verb ending is unique to the pronoun, they don't say it I,
you, he, she, they, we etc unless it is not absolutely clear about who they are referring to.
You see, because if they say, for example, 'hablamos' (we talk), it must be 'nosotros
hablamos' because the ending is unique to nosotros (we).
So if it is unique, they don't have to say 'nosotros'.
So they don't unless it is not obvious."
