• Extensive Reading ( reading to gain an overview by looking at the
heading, captions, changes in the type setting
• Intensive Reading (careful detailed reading of section of a text)
• Skimming and Scanning also relates to the concepts above but
defined as rapid eye movements and keywords to move quickly
through text for slightly different purposes.

To make meaning of text, the reader has to summarise the following
• Characters ( who the text is about)
• Setting ( where and when events unfold)
• Problem ( climax or the themes the text is covering)
• Solution ( how issues at hand are resolved)
