Class Cadet Engineer (May 10th
– August 5th
2016)
Title: Utilities/Lab Assistant – Supervised and conducted maintenance &
repair of shipboard berthing plumbing, marine sanitation systems, high
pressure steam drains and general use piping.
Assisted ship’s engineers in bringing plant to operation from cold start and
securing ship’s main engines to black plant. Also conducted pre-start
inspections for Ship’s Service Diesel and Turbo-generators prior to
paralleling with the Main Bus.
Responded to electrical power distribution failures during frequent trips of
Ship’s Service Turbo-generators to prevent overload of online generator(s).
Used lathe machines to make parts according to lab instructor’s
specifications for use in lab equipment and machinery. Was also responsible
for ensuring safe use of machine shop tools/equipment for underclass day
workers.
2. Assisted ship’s welder in putting together an engine room tool rack for better
ease of access to specific tools and safer storage during rough weather.
Dishwasher Project: Title – Team Member (Focus: Fluid Dynamics)
Participated in a team project of six undergraduate students redesigning a
counter-top dishwasher. Main objectives included making the dishwasher run
on a single pump instead of two and reducing pump speeds for glass cycle
settings to reduce cracking of glassware.
Tasks performed during the life of the project included cost estimating plastic
parts fabricated with an on-site 3D printer, performing calculations
pertaining to the new fluid transfer system, impeller design & particle
kinematics, SolidWorks & AutoCad drawings for submission to project
manager.
Other items that applicant was directly involved in or performed himself
included submitting engineering change notices to project manager, typing
explanations of design modifications and participating in routine group
presentations.
MILITARY Title: United States Navy Master At Arms (USNR) 09/2013-Present

conducted air quality assessments of confined spaces under supervision of
MARAD Inspector.
