Sidney is a 16-year-old student who has put off doing his math homework until the morning it's due. His mother hurries him to finish as she is running late. Sidney texts his friend Ricky asking to come over but sees Ricky has already messaged that he's waiting at the front door. When Sidney opens the door, his friend Ricky is soaked from the rain but offers to help Sidney with the math homework so they can make beats together instead.

EXT. ROAD/INT. SIDNEY'S BEDROOM - DAY
EXT. ROAD - DAY
It's raining quite hard.
A dirty old iPod Nano turns on whilst rain covers the screen
and a finger navigates the touchpad.
INT. SIDNEY'S BEDROOM - DAY
A hand wearily reaches out and plants onto a stack of vinyl
records and begins flicking through them.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
A hand quickly brushes off the earwax on an old pair of Apple
ear-pods and plugs them into the iPod's well use auxiliary
port.
INT. SIDNEY'S BEDROOM - DAY
A bright yellow record is pulled out of its protective sleeve
and placed gracelessly onto a pristine turntable and as the
needle is lifted to the record, the screen splits.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
MUSIC CUE: "Morning Process" by Verb T
INT. SIDNEY'S BEDROOM
Sidney Sower sits up in his bed. He is 16 years old and quite
skinny and a bit spotty. He is still dressed in school
clothes from the previous day. His longish black curly hair
is dishevelled and there is a post-it stuck to his face
reading: "MATHS 4 TMRW". He takes it off and reads is, then
rolls his head back so he's facing the ceiling and stays
there for a bit before releasing a long sigh.
Sidney unzips his bag and heaves a handful of large school
books onto his desk, catching his finger as they land and
then making a audible reaction to the pain.

He opens one of the books and stares at it with a blank face.
There is a page of equation questions on which SIDNEY has
written "i dont know." and drawn one of those graffiti Ss.
SIDNEY'S MUM
(from outside the room)
Sid! (pause)
Sidney! (pause)
Sidney have you done your homework
yet?! because I'm worried you're not
going to be...
SIDNEY
Yes mum I'm almost done.
SIDNEY'S MUM
able to finish before school starts.
It's almost 8, oh my lord, I need to
get off soon, are you getting the bus?
SIDNEY turns up his the music and looks annoyed as he grabs
his pen. SIDNEY'S MUM can be heard in the background rushing
about and talking.
SIDNEY
(whispered)
Fuck this fucking maths, why.
He looks up at a photo of him and his best friend RICKY
NICKS, looks down and nods lightly as he gets out his phone
and starts texting.
SIDNEY'S MUM
(obscured by the music)
Sidney love?
SIDNEY
Yes mum I'm getting the bus, I'm
almost ready, just give me a sec!
SIDNEY'S MUM

SIDNEY
Mum I'm literally almost done, gimme a

SIDNEY's phone shows a message reading: "Come mine?" which he

sends off just as his mum bursts in through the door brushing
her teeth and wearing a smart suit jacket and trousers with
fluffy Crocs on her feet.
SIDNEY'S MUM
(spluttering toothpaste)
Sidney! Listen to me! I'm late and I'm
not ready! I don't care if you're done
or not yet, but would you please
answer the door, there is someone
waiting! Thank you.
SIDNEY quickly turns back to look at his phone and sees that
above the message he just sent is a previous message from the
recipient that reads: "Here mans, can you let me in". SIDNEY
looks up and runs past his mum to the front door, opening it
to see RICKY soaked to the bone with his earphones in.
RICKY's face lights up as he takes his earphones out.
RICKY
(going in for a handshake)
Sidnayyyyyy
SIDNEY
Yes Rickaaay! Shit sorry man for
leaving you outside!
RICKY
All good g, wanna make some beats?
SIDNEY
Obviously, but I have that maths to
do.
RICKY
Ahhh, got you covered bro, I've
already done it.
