10. HOW YOUR TEMPERAMENT
AFFECTS YOU
Temperaments are inherent behaviours. When express, people claim
that is who they are. I believe that God has made these temperament
traits available to serve His purpose. This is not to mean that our
temperaments cannot be misused or abuse by us. Misuse of our
temperaments occurs, often times, when we don’t pay attention to our
environment or the people around us.
The general classification of temperaments is
“Strength and Weakness”, “Good and Bad”. I
may disregard those classification and view the
traits of temperaments as different sides of an
individual. A close analogy is a triangular glass
prism. It has different sides and only the side that
is focus on light is at advantage.

11. This means that some traits functions best at different
environment. For instance, it is accepted for a commander
to order his troops authoritatively or bossily, to be roughly
authoritative. When a regular person sits amongst close
friends and tend to be authoritative, it becomes annoying.
This is the same traits being displayed in two different
environment. The individual exhibiting such traits will do
himself a lot of good when he has a good understanding
on the environment.
HOW YOUR TEMPERAMENT AFFECTS YOU AND YOUR ENVIRONMENT
12. Peoples comfortability with certain behaviour can change with
respect to time. For instance, I might not mind a certain joke at
certain time but, some other time, such jokes can be irritating.
To understand ones environment is to deeply question what is
expected of you at that point in time.
We can also put control measures in the way we exercise our traits
especially in making decisions, typical choleric, by adding certain
expressions in times of decision making such as; “Can I”, “May I”,
“What do you think”. Expressions like that gives your listeners a
sense of accommodation and an opportunity to express themselves
without fear. This is also helpful when you find yourself in a team
13. As Christians, besides the laws of society, we
have the laws of the bible to abide by. The
power of these laws keeps us in check and
invokes our will power to think rationally
before acting.
Will misuse or abuse our traits if we fail to engage our will-
power to choose. We could choose how we exhibits our traits
and quit saying “Well… this is who I am”. This is the reason
why laws are made in society. Without laws, someone can pick
up a stick, in aggression, and break someone else’s head and
just say “Well…It’s in my nature, can’t do anything about it”.
14. Ultimately, God ca be instrumental to our temperament shift.
Philipians 2:13 says “For it is God which worketh in you both
to will and to do of his good pleasure”. For instance, Jeremaiah
was known to be timid and God gave him an assurance that he
will go with him. Peter was also known to be timid until the
Holy Spirit gave him boldness.
In conclusion, God had placed in us these traits to serve His
purpose, we can maximize the best use of them.
