Impact Of Globalization on The Sovereignty of State-Nation
Robina Davis
Introduction
Attention getter:
I greet you all. I am Robina Davis from the Institute of Governance and Global leadership. What is your understanding of governance and issues related to global leadership? It is worth noting that governance and global leadership are significant factors that have contributed to the issue of globalization.
State the topic:
Today we will be dealing with the issue of the impact of globalization on the sovereignty of state-nation. The world has come under the same social norms that are eradicating the space of governance within territorial jurisdictions to develop common internationally recognized bodies that would ensure uniformity of leadership and governance across the globe.
Speaker credibility:
I address you from the background of engaging institutions such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization during our governance leadership and global leadership disclosures to understand the role of the organizations in ensuring that nations interact sustainably (Hintzen, 2018).
Thesis Statement:
Thereby, I will address the extent to which globalization has challenged state-nations sovereignty in the current world and future expectations of the impact of globalization on nations' governance.
Preview:
The key ideas that I will cover are the impact of globalization on a country's economic, political, and nation's cultural sovereignty. Further, address the impact of globalization on the rights to development and governance structure.Body
I.
First key idea
Globalization has impacted the role of state governments to take full responsibility for their economic policies, more so the macroeconomic management, and to develop political structures that would enhance their sovereignties. Notably, globalization has contributed to the diffusion of economic practices which are not controlled by global bodies at the expense of state-nations institutions and technology systems employed in nations' economic management. Organizations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization have been deployed to ensure they oversee the economic operations of nations that have denied countries their sovereignty (Ferguson & Mansbach, 2012). Countries that do not adhere to policies recommended by the organizations are sanctioned or secluded from international economic engagements. The oversight of such organizations results from globalization and challenges nation-state sovereignty.
II.
Second key idea
Consequently, globalization has impacted the political orientation of nations since most state-nations are urged to adopt democratic governance, which does not favor some highly polarized states. Some nations may not experience the benefit of the people's voice in their governan ...

2. Thereby, I will address the extent to which globalization has
challenged state-nations sovereignty in the current world and
future expectations of the impact of globalization on nations'

First key idea
Globalization has impacted the role of state governments to take
full responsibility for their economic policies, more so the
macroeconomic management, and to develop political structures
that would enhance their sovereignties. Notably, globalization
has contributed to the diffusion of economic practices which are
not controlled by global bodies at the expense of state-nations
institutions and technology systems employed in nations'
economic management. Organizations such as the United
Nations, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade
Organization have been deployed to ensure they oversee the
economic operations of nations that have denied countries their
sovereignty (Ferguson & Mansbach, 2012). Countries that do
not adhere to policies recommended by the organizations are
sanctioned or secluded from international economic
engagements. The oversight of such organizations results from
globalization and challenges nation-state sovereignty.
II.
Second key idea
Consequently, globalization has impacted the political
orientation of nations since most state-nations are urged to
adopt democratic governance, which does not favor some highly
polarized states. Some nations may not experience the benefit of
the people's voice in their governance structure since the
majority undermine the contributions of the minority, which can
3. result in a more divided nation than their present state (Hintzen,
2018). The need to adapt democracy globally is because of the
need to allow people to participate in their leadership and
governance activities. However, this globalization issue has
denied state-nations to develop governance approaches that
would bring their people together and foster prosperity.
III.
Third key idea
Notably, the nations' cultural inclination has been impacted by
globalization which has made many nations adapt to
westernized cultures at the expense of their traditionally
inclined cultures that ensured stability and prosperity among
their people. Globalization has led to an infusion of some
Western cultures through education, religions, and human rights
issues that have eroded the culture some nations have practiced
(Charsmar, 2020). The loss of sovereignty of a nation because
of cultural erosion has made countries adhere to practices that
morally oppose the way of life of people within the jurisdictions
and are protected within human rights laws. Therefore, the
inability of countries to confront these issues because of
globalization has led to the nation's loss of sovereignty to make
autonomous decisions.
IV.
Fourth key idea
Globalization has contributed to nations' rights to development,
which are tied to the global institutions that fund the projects
that seek to ensure their nations' development. A state-nation
acceptance of the right to development has made various nations
concede to the globalization demands of cooperation,
interaction, and dependence. These demands robes nations of
their sovereignty since all the political, economic and social
decisions they make will be tied to the treaties and agreements
with the international institutions. Such dependencies
contributed by globalization have made nations lose their
autonomy to make their decisions which translates to the loss of
sovereignty of state nations. Furthermore, globalization has
4. contributed to the changes in the governance structure of
various nations globally, undermining state nations'
sovereignty. Institutions such as United Nations have been
given the mandate to determine some of the governance
approaches developed by different nations, impacting their
autonomy to make their national decisions (Charsmar, 2020).
Nations opposed to such interventions are considered to be
against human rights issues and breaches of international
accords and treaties. Such an effect of globalization challenges
the sovereignty of state nations Conclusion
Globalization is an issue that keeps changing the global
leadership and governance landscape. It is high time we speak
out for the overreaching policies by international bodies that
challenge the sovereignty of state nations. In this manner,
nations can have the autonomy to decide their international
issues without foreign interferenceReferences
