Welcome to the presentation. Presented by myself, shohol and my partner, ananya with the cordial instruction of our honourable supervisor Md. Shahriar Hossain sir.
The topic of our research is ‘Ensuring Thermal Comfort At Indoor Living Space In Building For Monsoon Climate’. These are keywords of our research.
Here is the content of our presentation.
At first, let us know what is thermal comfort? It is the condition of mind, depends on various factors such as air temperature, relative humidity, metabolic rate, air speed, clothing etc. But in our research, we will give focus only to air temperature and relative humidity as these are the main controlling factors.
Various design tools and techniques and materials are used to ensure thermal comfort and to control daylight since ages. Here are some examples of these. These are Light shelf, fixed shading devices, movable shading device.
First one is thermal comfort header and the last one is double skin façade. There are Stuctural Insulated Panel (SIP) at the left side, Vacuum Insulated Panel (VIP) in the middle and wood plastic panel at the right side also used as materials.
From all of these, we have selected venetian blinds which gives more advantages than fixed shading devices. Its slats can be positioned at any angle according to users requirement.
The next selected element for our research is double skin façade which gives flexibity to design as per users choice. It can be also used with shading devices for better performance in high rise buildings.
The objectives of our research are to control sunlight and maintain desired temperature and humidity at indoor living spaces in buildings by design tools and techniques. And finally to perform software simulation. _____ will brief the rest portion.
Thank you, shohol. The overall process of research is executed through 3 steps. To understand the methodology, a diagram has been made.
Here are the main steps. At first, a residential building has been surveyed and information about its floor plan and landscape area have been collected. Simultaneously literature review on design tools and techniques and design parameters have been studied. From where, we have selected venetian blinds and double skin façade. Finally software simulation will be done from all the observations. At last a comparison between comfortable range and the result of simulation will be done. If they both satisfy each other, it will be the expected outcome and if not, the process will be checked and adjusted.
These are the summary of what we study and what we get from our study.
We expect to get a climate responsive building design and a typical design of outer building façade prototype.
Here are few references we used to collect information.
