Overview
Alexa (17) is a vulnerable teenager running away from bullies. In order
for her to feel security she hides in a wardrobe and falls asleep only
to find herself waking up in the 1970’s on a picnic rug in old
fashioned clothing. Naturally she is confused as to what is going on
but feels comfort knowing that Clarissa (17) is with her and is
explaining to her where she is and what is happening. Over some
time both of them bond and enjoy one another's company with
Clarissa giving Alexa a friendship bracelet identical to the one she
herself is wearing. After a while Alexa falls asleep only to find
herself back in the present day. She looks outside her bedroom
window and sees that her bullies are still there but an older woman
has told them to go away. When the older woman looks up to Alexa
and waves, Alexa realises that this woman is Clarissa in the present
day because she is wearing the same bracelet as the one Clarissa
gave to her and was wearing herself when having a picnic.
Genre
 The genre of our production is fantasy and
adventure. Popular films of this genre include:
 Alice in Wonderland (2010)
 Once Upon a Time (2011)
 Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
 All these films contain adventure and fantasy and go
with our production because the protagonists in
these films are like our protagonist Alexa in terms of
gender and personality.
Target Audience
 This production can be seen by all ages since the
certification is PG but the main target audience for our
production is 10-30 year olds. This is because all the
content in our short film is suitable to be seen by all
audiences as it does not contain anything inappropriate,
and some of the issues raised within our production such
as bullying is relatable to a majority of people but most
specifically younger audiences.
 Our production is not aimed at a specific gender because
the genre of our production (fantasy and adventure)
appeals to more than just one gender. But since the lead
character in our production is female, more females
would be able to relate to the production than males and
would be better able to empathise with the protagonist.
Promotion and publication
 Our production will be published on the following websites:
 Blogger
 Facebook
 Twitter
 YouTube
 As a group, we could use blogger to promote our production on our
group blog. More and more people are now making blogs as well as
using blogger and so this would be a good way to promote our
product.
 Our production can also be promoted on popular social media sites
like Twitter and Facebook. In this day and age most people use
social networking sites on a daily basis and these social networking
sites are very popular amongst teenagers and young adults in
particular and so promoting our production on them will help our
product gain popularity.
 YouTube is an obvious way to promote our production as the majority
of our target audience and most people in general use this site on a
daily basis. This website allows us to get our production across to a
wide variety of audiences which will therefore increase its popularity.
Representation
 Our final product could be represented as
stereotypical to the fantasy and adventure genre
since it ended with a happy ending and had a
positive outcome, which is what usually happens in
fantasy and genre films. Also, our product had a
simplistic linear narrative which is also stereotypical
to this genre.
 However, our final product could be seen as a
countertype since our production didn't contain a
make-believe world but rather a time period that
already happened (1970’s). Our production also did
not have any elements of imaginary creations, the
supernatural, make-believe creatures, etc.
Product Influences
 One of the films that really influenced our production
is Alice in the Wonderland. This is because the
character in the film is similar to our character in
terms of their characteristics. Both the character in
Alice in the Wonderland and the actress in our short
film have blonde hair and similar personality traits,
for example both of them are portrayed as
vulnerable.
Resource Constraints
Constraint Description
Money As a group we need to purchase many props for or
short film which will add up to be expensive. For
example, the actresses costumes will be made and
so will cost for the materials. We also will need to
spend money on the props that will be used when
filming the picnic scene, e.g. The 1970’s
newspaper and dated coke bottles.
Time management Time management is a key constraint to look out
for because the sooner filming starts the more we
are able to get on camera. This means that actors
have to arrive on time and get in costumer and the
props need to be set out ready to be used for
filming.
Equipment and Props Props are essential to bring each time we film for
continuity reasons. Without props we are unable to
film because they play an essential part when
filming the scenes set in the 1970’s. Also,
equipment such as the tripod can be heavy to carry
but needs to be taken care of when taking it and
other equipment to our location.

  • 2. Type of production Name of production Timeless Length 5 minutes Deadline November Crew members and their roles Director: Angel Bird Camerawoman: Fatima Batool Editor: Amy Cole Sound person: All group members Produced by Dead Air Productions
  • 3. Overview Alexa (17) is a vulnerable teenager running away from bullies. In order for her to feel security she hides in a wardrobe and falls asleep only to find herself waking up in the 1970’s on a picnic rug in old fashioned clothing. Naturally she is confused as to what is going on but feels comfort knowing that Clarissa (17) is with her and is explaining to her where she is and what is happening. Over some time both of them bond and enjoy one another's company with Clarissa giving Alexa a friendship bracelet identical to the one she herself is wearing. After a while Alexa falls asleep only to find herself back in the present day. She looks outside her bedroom window and sees that her bullies are still there but an older woman has told them to go away. When the older woman looks up to Alexa and waves, Alexa realises that this woman is Clarissa in the present day because she is wearing the same bracelet as the one Clarissa gave to her and was wearing herself when having a picnic.
  • 4. Genre  The genre of our production is fantasy and adventure. Popular films of this genre include:  Alice in Wonderland (2010)  Once Upon a Time (2011)  Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)  All these films contain adventure and fantasy and go with our production because the protagonists in these films are like our protagonist Alexa in terms of gender and personality.
  • 5. Target Audience  This production can be seen by all ages since the certification is PG but the main target audience for our production is 10-30 year olds. This is because all the content in our short film is suitable to be seen by all audiences as it does not contain anything inappropriate, and some of the issues raised within our production such as bullying is relatable to a majority of people but most specifically younger audiences.  Our production is not aimed at a specific gender because the genre of our production (fantasy and adventure) appeals to more than just one gender. But since the lead character in our production is female, more females would be able to relate to the production than males and would be better able to empathise with the protagonist.
  • 6. Promotion and publication  Our production will be published on the following websites:  Blogger  Facebook  Twitter  YouTube  As a group, we could use blogger to promote our production on our group blog. More and more people are now making blogs as well as using blogger and so this would be a good way to promote our product.  Our production can also be promoted on popular social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. In this day and age most people use social networking sites on a daily basis and these social networking sites are very popular amongst teenagers and young adults in particular and so promoting our production on them will help our product gain popularity.  YouTube is an obvious way to promote our production as the majority of our target audience and most people in general use this site on a daily basis. This website allows us to get our production across to a wide variety of audiences which will therefore increase its popularity.
  • 7. Representation  Our final product could be represented as stereotypical to the fantasy and adventure genre since it ended with a happy ending and had a positive outcome, which is what usually happens in fantasy and genre films. Also, our product had a simplistic linear narrative which is also stereotypical to this genre.  However, our final product could be seen as a countertype since our production didn't contain a make-believe world but rather a time period that already happened (1970’s). Our production also did not have any elements of imaginary creations, the supernatural, make-believe creatures, etc.
  • 8. Product Influences  One of the films that really influenced our production is Alice in the Wonderland. This is because the character in the film is similar to our character in terms of their characteristics. Both the character in Alice in the Wonderland and the actress in our short film have blonde hair and similar personality traits, for example both of them are portrayed as vulnerable.
  • 9. Resource Constraints Constraint Description Money As a group we need to purchase many props for or short film which will add up to be expensive. For example, the actresses costumes will be made and so will cost for the materials. We also will need to spend money on the props that will be used when filming the picnic scene, e.g. The 1970’s newspaper and dated coke bottles. Time management Time management is a key constraint to look out for because the sooner filming starts the more we are able to get on camera. This means that actors have to arrive on time and get in costumer and the props need to be set out ready to be used for filming. Equipment and Props Props are essential to bring each time we film for continuity reasons. Without props we are unable to film because they play an essential part when filming the scenes set in the 1970’s. Also, equipment such as the tripod can be heavy to carry but needs to be taken care of when taking it and other equipment to our location.
