The document provides an initial reaction and plans for a creative brief that allows the creator to develop whatever project they want without limitations on time or format. Some initial ideas mentioned are a trailer, poster, and psychological horror or parody documentary. The creator recognizes being ambitious with ideas but challenges with execution. A mind map is then shown outlining potential plot ideas involving a sociopath named Arthur whose routine is disrupted by another character named Jack. Colors, styles, and moods from films like American Psycho, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Silence of the Lambs, and Bronson are analyzed in a mood board for how they convey characters and influence the creator's final product.
2. Initial Reaction
• The fact that the brief is that I can create whatever I want helps me come up with
brilliant ideas. This gives me the motivation to be creative as possible. This also allows
me to practice more skills such as making the dialogue and script writing as the last
brief didn't’t allow this. With no time limit helps me with shooting more comfortably as
I wont have to rush scenes nor reshoot scenes. The ideas that I I first came with was a
trailer. This made me question how long it will be and what scenes I can make that
would be exciting. This made me question of what other projects ill have to make with
the trailer. I could easily make a poster based of the trailer making it seem more real
however I am having difficulty thinking of a third product.
• I first thought of a psychological horror as it may fit well as a trailer since I can make
random scenes with no in depth meaning. Another idea I thought would be a parody
documentary of a haunted classroom with a clumsy ghost trying to scare the students.
This would mean ide have to make it fairly lengthy for it to be effective as a
documentary.
• Ide say I'm good at coming up with stories and plots however my ideas become far too
ambitious making difficult or impossible too shoot. I would also say im good with
making interesting shots to make the scene more interesting as I can plan them very
clearly within a story board.

The rough plot Is about a
sociopath called Arthur who lives
by a routine to keep himself
controlled. The routine is broken
by another character called jack
who is constantly provoking
Arthur, forcing himself in his life.
To get back to his routine, Arthur
has the idea to kill Jack.

6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• I specially chose these images as they peek my interest in conveying characters and there psyche with cinematography. For example I chose
“American psycho” and “we need to talk about Kevin” as they both represent emptiness within the characters. They both have a very bland colour
grade with very plain sets and lighting. This is more obvious with “We need to talk about Kevin” as within the pictures they use a lot of white for
there backgrounds. The saturation also seems very low with seemingly no shades of black. I think this emphasises the emptiness of Kevin and his
relation ship with his mother. "American psycho” on the other hand is very similar in that they use very bland colour grading. This lack of colour is
emphasised within the pictures of the scene where Patrick Batmen's kills Paul Owen in his apartment. Patricks apartment is very plain and normal
which makes it abnormal leading uncanny valley. This represents Patricks character heavily as he is; much like his apartment, empty and soulless. I’ve
also included images of “silence of the lambs” and “Bronson” as they also have unique ways of portraying there character such as colour. This is very
subtle within “silence of the lambs” as Hannibal isn’t the main focus within the film. When Hannibal is confined and is talking to Clarice starling, there
is a cold dark blue tint. This represents Hannibal's sinister calm controlled presence however when he becomes active and vicious such as the scene
when he escaped, he is surrounded by warm colours such as brown flooring, red carpets and most noticeably the blood on his mouth. In “Bronson”
there a significant use of the colour of blue and red. For example when Bronson is motivated and has a focused goal the scenes are covered in red
while on the other hand when he's feeling of failure and motivation, the scene is covered in blue. I chose and image of when I sets out to make a
name for himself when he visits characters within a heavily red room. He also meets girl he likes wearing a red dress but when he purposes to her
earlier on in the movie she denies it while wearing a blue dress. This occurrence happens again when a character in red jacket shows up asking for
him to join a fight club. But when Bronson does join the fight club the character is wearing blue representing that Bronson dislikes the profession. the
scene is also lit with blue stage lights in the background. These colours are also fighting for dominance giving a strong portrayal of the character. For
example in the dance scene where Bronson is slowly walking up to a guard ready to act violently with both blue and red lights shining in the
background. The red representing his motivation is suddenly stopped as a guard tells him to stay away showing that blue has won.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• This will heavily influence my product as these images strongly represent how you can visually convey a character using subtle techniques. This will
motivate me to understand colour grading and unique camera angles in order to pull the audience into the mind of my characters. The images will be
a reminder for me to make sure I have to have a reason for everything within my film. I will have to focus on absolutely everything within my shots
such as the setting to lighting and editing.
