3. How it all started ?
- In 622 Hijri, Prophet(S.A.W)
received a “Wahi” about prayers.
- Prophet used to think deeply about
the Qibla and asked many
companions about it .
- He took opinions from a lot of
companions and finally decided that
Masjad-e-Aqsa would be the Qibla
for Prayers.
4. Why the direction of Qibla had Changed?
- At that time, Masjid-e-Aqsa was also the worship
place for Jews.
- This though made Prophet Muhammad worried
about the direction and used to think about it a
lot.
- Until in 624 CE, Prohphet Muhammad got a Wahi
about chaning the direction of the Qibla towards
Ka’aba.
- He changed the direction in such a way that the
Kaaba and Masjid-e-Aqsa came in the same
direction.
5. Why did Holy Kaaba became the Qibla of
Muslims?
There are many reasons for the Kaaba being the Qibla of Muslims:
- It was also known as the House of Allah (S.W.T).
- The Holy Kaaba was a prestigious and religious place for Muslims.
- At that time, Holy Kaaba was also the place where Muslims performed
Hajj.
- It was in the centre of Makka.
- Before the making of Kaaba into an Islamic monument, it was a building
where the statues of Buddhas and Gods of different religion were kept
and Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) broke all the gods himself. That’s why
Holy Kaaba was important to Muslims and became the Qibla of Muslims.
