2. AIM OF PROJECT
 Alerting of smart bin full/empty using iot application
to the respective authority.
 To implement a smart bin built on a microcontroller
based platform Arduino Uno board
 which is interfaced with GSM modem and
Ultrasonic sensor which can gives the status of
 The waste present in the dustbin to the municipal
authority

3. PROBLEMS IN SOCIETY
 In the present scenario as the population
is increasing day by day, the environment
should be clean and hygienic.
 In most of the cities, the overflowed
garbage bins creating an unhygienic
environment.
 This will further lead to the arise of
different types of unnamed diseases.
 This will degrade the standard of living. To
avoid all such situations this project gives a
clear picture of IOT.

4. MOTIVATION OF PROJECT
 Seeing the use of cloud to retrieve data at
any time and at any place .
 Also the use of wireless sensors made it
possible to collect the data from cloud.
 we also have the Moto of clean and
hygienic environment so, we try to
implement this system.

9. ARDUINO SOFTWARE
 We used this software to code the
program which we dump it over the
arduino board .
 We separate the program on
continuous monitoring and sms alert
.
 As the dustbin cross the threshold
limit ,the alert message will first go
to the respective authority(whose no
is feed in the program)

10. GSM
 GSM modem shown is used to send
message to the garbage depots if the Garbage
Can exceeds the set threshold level.
 With the help of GSM module interfaced, we
can send short text messages to the required
municipal office.
GSM module is provided by
 sim using the mobile service provider and
send sms to the respective authorities as per
programmed.
 It operates at either the 900
MHz or 1800 MHz frequency band.

11. ESP 8266 NODE MCU
 Wifi module is used to give
access for any microcontroller
to wifi network. It has
integrated soc tcp/ip protocol
stack.
 Node mcu has open source
IOT platform.
 The firmware used by mcu is
run on ESP 8266wifi.soc

12. ULTRASONIC SENSOR
The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor uses
SONAR to determine the distance of
an object just like the bats do.
It offers excellent non-contact range
detection with high accuracy and
stable readings in an easy-to-use
package from 2 cm to 400 cm or 1” to
13 feet.
The operation is not affected by
sunlight or black material, although
acoustically, soft
materials like cloth can be difficult to
detect.
