Mexico provided capacity building and technical assistance to Mesoamerican governments to help them monitor and evaluate their progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This included two sub-regional workshops on statistical capabilities and institutional coordination, five workshops on monitoring and assessment, and two on developing computing tools for national reporting platforms. The project also helped countries like Belize, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic establish institutions to monitor the MDGs and provided programming support and tools to implement national reporting platforms. Lessons learned include the need to simplify cooperation agreements and involve more stakeholders like civil society.
