General Specification
Mill Building c1855 & c1879
Proposed Upgrade to existing External Walls:
Proposed: additional dry lining board to the internal
face of the external walls, consisting of 10mm layer
of levelling lime plaster, 50mm Calsitherm Climate
board glued to face of the lime plaster with 5mm of
calsitherm adhesive mortar, a 12 mm layer of lime
plaster is to be applied to the face of the calsitherm
with reinforcing mesh in between the two layers of
plaster, a diffusion natural paint shall then be
applied to the plaster , colour as decided by client.
Proposed upgrade to Existing Floor.
Proposed: Existing flagstones that occur in the
three bays to the South side of the mill are to be
accurately surveyed, numbered and taken up from
the floor carefully and stored in a safe place, the
flagstone are to be reused on top of the new
proposed floor. Removal of existing assumed
concrete ground floor, 150mm of compacted light
expanded clay aggregate to be laid on top of a
geotextile breathable membrane which is to be
taped and sealed up the sides of the proposed
floor. 150mm Hydraulic lime screed is then to be
poured on top with a 50mm hydraulic lime screed to
be laid in the area where the flagstones do not
occur. The Existing flagstones are to be laid on top
of a hydraulic screed and are to be laid at the
same level as the new proposed floor. The existing
flagstones are to repointed with lime mortar.
Proposed Upgrade to Existing Silo Floor
Proposed: 150mm Sand Blinding is to be placed
on top of existing concrete floor, 200mm Rigid PIR
Insulation is then placed on top with a DPC/DPM
Membrane placed on top which is to be wrapped up
the side , a 100mm Concrete screed is then to be
poured on top. The Concrete screed is finished
with a tightly bound wearing finish.
Proposed upgrade to Existing windows
Proposed - Upgrading to Triple glazed argon filled
Timber and aluminium window frame with 30 mm
thick polyethylene foam insulation on outside
Which will achieve a u-value of 0.8w/m²k. Install
draught proofing strips around all windows to help
prevent heat loss. Proposed Aluminium Cill to be
fixed on top of existing granite cills to drain away
rain water.
Proposed Upgrade to Existing Silo Walls:
Proposed - 150mm Rigid PIR Insulation to be
packed tightly between 150 x 100 mm Steel C
Channells, vertical Timber Pine Cladding to be
attached back to the structure using 25 x 75mm
Horizontal treated Counterbattons attached to 50 x
25mm Vertical treated Battons which are attached
back to 15mm Cement Particle
Board.Waterproofing membrane placed on the face
of the Cement Particle Board which is then
attached back to the Steel C Channels. This
Structure is supported independently from the
existing structure by Steel Columns which are
supported individually by a Concrete Pad
Foundation wherever possible to engineers
specification.
Proposed Upgrade to Existing First & Second
Floor
Mill Block: 30mm Eco Underfloor heating system
panel is placed on top of the existing floor
structure, 10mm Plywood distribution board is the
laid on top, the boards are to be staggered and
taped together, 13mm Oakwood floor is then laid
as a clip system as per manufactureres
specification.
