Dr. Lourdes Ramos
Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico
299 Avenida de Diego
Santurce, Puerto Rico 00909
Dear Dr. Ramos,
I am a second year Master of Arts student at Teachers College, Columbia University, and am
confident I can be a dynamic addition to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. My professional
experience and academic background will allow me to succeed as an intern in the Museum’s
Education, Events Planning and Communication departments. I am attaching my resume and
list of references, for your consideration.
A career in education requires forward thinking, creativity and determination to facilitate,
develop and implement successful new initiatives. My rich bilingual and multicultural
background provides me with a unique perspective and excellent communication skills in
both English and Spanish, which have become an important asset in my career. My studies at
Barnard College and Teachers College have instilled in me strong analytical and problem
solving abilities, which are further enhanced by my experiences working in projects such as
One Laptop Per Child and as a preschool teacher. Most recently, my position as a
Professional Development facilitator in a Summer STEM program for the Center of
Technology and School Change has allowed me to become proactive and visionary as I
assisted teachers with designing STEM-aligned curriculums and learning strategies. My
ability to communicate effectively with teachers and with the Center’s staff led to
opportunities to direct successful teacher workshops. In particular, these experiences have
allowed me to become detail-oriented, organized and able to cooperate well with a team,
important skills necessary to fulfill the expectations and duties in various MAPR
departments.
My enthusiastic nature, proficient communication abilities and wealth of knowledge in the
aforementioned areas make me an ideal candidate for a position that involves constant
dialogue and interactions with other employees.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. I am available to answer any questions about
my background and experiences. Do not hesitate to contact me by phone at (305) 815-4595
or by email at sb2800@tc.columbia.edu.
Sincerely,
Silvia Burt
