2. “How to tame a wild tongue” by
Gloria Anzaldu
• She talks about the many different
languages in the Mexican culture.
• The title is a metaphor to how she would
be criticized in school for speaking spanish
and criticized by mexicans by speaking
chicano spanish.
• She explains how she feels like a zero for
being Chicano.
3. India by Richard Rodriguez
• He talks about almost forbidden topic of
Indians.
• He talks about how the indians are
forgotten and there are not many full on
native Americans left in this world.
• He talks about the many stereotypes of
Indians and how many still believe they
were a bunch of hooting and hollering
brown people who would run around and
chant by fire.
4. Daddy with Chesterfields in a rolled
up sleeve by Ana Castilla
• Brings a young’s girls point of view into the
story.
• It shows how hard some chicano mothers
are on their daughters and how the wives
are extremely hard working.
5. Never marry a Mexican by Sandra
Cisneros
• She said how her dad from Mexico married
down by marrying a Chicano who did not
speak Spanish.
• I believe this belief was very prejudice and
surprising to myself.
• The author came off prejudice and racist to
me when she explained all the things that
happened in the book about cheating.
