1. Back-story:
● His mother died just after giving birth and then Jake was abused by his dad,
who would constantly beat him up blaming him for the death of his wife. His dad
himself was addicted to cocaine, and died of an overdose when Jake was 10.
● He was in foster from the age of 10 and was in and out of foster care, most of
those giving him back saying he was abusive and rude and could no longer deal
with police knocking on the door making them look bad for him committing
petty crime.
● Whilst in foster care or school, he did not get along with anyone his age and
was bullied, leaving for him to have a guard against anyone his age.
Main narrative:
● A group of teenagers decided to go to the woods to discover the mystery of
missing “Jenny Malcolm” a girl who went there school that had been missing
for just under a year. No one tends to visit these woods, based on the myth of
her death.
● Jake notices them and decides the follow them to see what they are up to and
to stop them if the discover any significant information on Jenny.
● The forest itself is an isolated woodland down a long country lane so the teens
drive, with the accompany of some alcohol and cigarettes they managedto steal
from their houses. When in the woods they decided to start drinking and
listening to music, disturbing Jakes peace and quiet, trespassing on his land.
This suggests the reckless nature of the teens.
● Salina quickly picks up on the fact that it is a bad idea and wants to leave
instantly, but the others convince her otherwise. They sit in the same spot for a
while drinking, Salina thinks they are lost and has a small search for the way
back. By the time she has returned, they are all relatively drunk and
uncontrollable of their actions. Her being the only one sober, sees someone in
the background.
● None the less, they believe it is a good idea to continue ignoring Salina and play
hide and seek instead.
● At this point another montage begins revealing all the action of Jake catching
the teens. We see both Stanley and Bradley running, alone insinuating the
group has split up. Whereas Shauna and Antonia will be seen together running.
● This does not last as we see a point of view shot of Iketchi throwing the axe
towards Antonia and grabbing Shauna from behind, covering her mouth so we
do not hear her scream.
● Lastly, we see Salina by the car, and it cuts before we discover if we see her
escape, however, Iketchi is right behind her but her fate remains unknown to
the audience.
