The document compares the narrative structures of film trailers and full films based on Todorov's Theory. It analyzes three sample films - Black Swan, Split, and The Babadook. It finds that film trailers typically show more of the "Disruption" and "Realization" parts of the narrative and less of the "Repair Damage" and "Restoration" sections. This is because trailers aim to intrigue audiences without revealing too much of the full plot. Based on this analysis, the trailer for the proposed film Todorov's Torn would similarly focus more on the disruption and realization aspects of the story.

Comparing the the trailer narrative and the film narrative in the three films I have studied it is clear that in the trailer, parts of
Todorov’s Theory is not used. The sections we see less of is the ‘Repair Damage’ and ‘Restoration’. Therefore in our trailer we
will follow the same conventions and use more of the disruption and realisation. The reason trailers follow this method is because
the creators don’t want to reveal too much but at the same want the audience to be amazed by the film so they only show
important highlights.
