3. In this step, the architectural and
structural BIM models might be
developed by using Revit Architecture
Software. The building specifications
such as geometry and sections must
be based on a Project which is
already done and verified as a code
compliant building. This should be an
existing building such as RC, steel or
masonry.

4. To perform a structural analysis in
any other software, the developed
BIM model should be exported in a
format that is readable by that
software. For example, Ideate or
Opensees softwares can used to
extract the model properties and to
export the model in xml format.

5. Before damage cost estimation,
obtaining the quantity of different
components in the building is
necessary. The quantity of the
components can be determined in a
database. This step can provide a
description about the type of physical
damages that could happen in each
damage state in order to make it
more tangible for readers to
understand.

6. The environmental impacts of a
product or a process from cradle to
grave can be estimated using Life
Cycle Assessment (LCA). This well-
known methodology considers
several life cycle phases such as raw
material extraction and processing,
manufacturing, use phase, and end-
of-life. In this section, developed BIM
model is exported to a Life Cycle
Assessment (LCA) tool.
