This document provides an overview of bibliometric analysis and its use in evaluating research contributions and trends. It discusses the origins and definitions of bibliometrics. Key bibliometric indicators that can be analyzed include research fields, publication outputs, citations, and author keywords to understand trends. Examples are provided of bibliometric studies analyzing research on augmented reality, physics learning during COVID-19, and ethnoscience. Video tutorials for conducting bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software are also listed.

13. Bibliometric analysis provided a precise method to evaluate the contribution of a paper to
the advancement of knowledge (Chen & Ho, 2015; Yang, Sun, & Liu, 2017; Suprapto,
Prahani, & Deta, 2021).
BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS
The term bibliométrie was first used by Paul Otlet (1934) and defined as "the
measurement of all aspects related to the publication and reading of books and documents
(Rousseau, 2014).
The anglicised version bibliometrics was first used by Alan Pritchard in a paper published in
1969, titled "Statistical Bibliography or Bibliometrics? (Pritchard, 1969). He defined the
term as "the application of mathematics and statistical methods to books and other media
of communication".

• publication outputs,

• distribution of countries and institutions,
• top authors,
• number of citations, and author keywords,
• have been frequently used to analyze the trends
(Chen & Ho, 2015; Dong, Xu, Luo, Cai, & Gao, 2012; Yang et al., 2017;
Suprapto, Prahani, & Deta, 2021)
