THE GOTHIC FASHION

Dating back to 1980's the Gothic subculture belongs to the dark and gloomy ages of
Edwardian era. Though stereotyped it is a movement in itself and makes people follow
aesthetic and literature of earlier era. Gothic garments represent death to show how
modernization killed humanity. The vampire’s blood represents death of humanity. The most
outstanding feature of the Gothic fashion is, it instills Victorian fashion and doesn’t let
modern fashion take over it. It communicates a much stronger message of life, “No matter
what life gives you, you only take what you want to take.” It signifies boldness and the need
for individuality in this world of conventionality.

INSPIRATION BOARD
MOODBOARD
COLORBOARD
Driven from the greenery of nature swollen across the peculiar pink staples, that’s where
life hovers around. The mystery in a woman, her contrasting sense of calm and storm
metaphoric to the contrasting croton is the magic that wakes the human kind from the
never ending dreams of greed and pleasure. The Flamingo that’s as gentle as the river algae
walks on rocks, the ever fresh rose, has a sense of glimmer. The mysterious girl is forced to
paint her lips green. The lizard hangs overhead with the chance of falling down every passing
minute. This is ‘Surreal’, the strange concept of life and its existence. The irony that keeps life
running every minute despite vague concepts of insecurities is what keeps us going. Life is
what we make it is an old phenomenon. Life is what lies beneath the closed curtains and
unraveled knots are what breaks down the real meaning and cause of our existence.

Style Name: Scrambled Identity
“Deformity empowers
uniformity”
The floral cut worked
bosom creates an
illusion of wanting
more than what’s gifted.
The human identity of
greed while still
preaching satisfaction
has become the
modern prayer. The
garment gets the
scrambled identity of
the model and gets her
perfect curves well
dictated while still
maintaining the mystery
of her. The circular cut
at the back is still
maintained by the
perfection of the straps
that preserve
something which is not
supposed to
overlooked Upon. The
thin line between lust
and modesty is well
drafted just like the
stem staying on ground
and roots off ground.
The dual shades of the
skirt speaks the
existence of minute
differences while still
making efforts to stay
polished.
Style Name:Twisty Twister
Wearing the twister is not
as twisting as it seems like.
The loops in the sleeve
proves that every vacuum
is created for a reason.
Leaving a space for things
to fit in. This works out
just like the way stomata
respires and humans find
someone to complete
their incomplete life. The
Fulfilling attire emphasizes
the sleeves the way the
croton plant emphasizes
its leaves. Proving again
that the add-ons add glory
than the basics.
“Confuse the confused before
the confused confuses you”
Style Name: Lamina Duplex
“Binaries of life comes often not
from the right side”
Lamina Duplex portrays the
Unusual sensation through the
side flap enhancing the shades of
the croton leaves. This style
emphasizes the mood and
temptation of the icon rather
than the curves. Thus, making sure
the inner beauty is magnified than
the temporary glamour. Merging
with the theme, the add-ons
prove that life isn’t just about
what’s mandatory. The glory of
life stays only when the wants are
magnified and emphasized more
than the basics. This is where the
strange moral of life comes into
play.

Clinging on to the highest
point of torso, the crop

Metaphoric to the large
lamina that clings on to
the petiole while dangling
thru in the winds. Holding
on has become a luxury
in this century which
craves for repetitions. The
sociological life has
become a scrap book
that holds all the patches
of heart together, yet
separated. Its an irony
that the closely related
ones are the ones those
are deeply far away. The
patch work skirt
magnifies the gradient
shades of the spotted
leaves. The mini skirt
preserves the modesty
while still flaunting the
pointed legs.

Style Name: Strip Tease
“No Strings Attached!!”
Strip Tease is the garment that makes the crowd turn
back to face the world of Glam. Petioles joining
together to hold the lamina and the stalk together is
the same as the strips hold the face and back together.
The emphasis point of the garment is shown through
the highlighted straps that creates a half-hidden identity.
The majestic identity is created through the midi dress
showing off the girl inside the lady. No matter how a
baby girl becomes a woman, the girl in her is still kept
alive and wandering around. Simile to this is the tender
leaves gleaming the best thru the dense greens.
Style Name: Back Licker
“Kick the front,
Lick the back”
Contrasting to the usual
scenario of sweet front and
salted back, the back-licker
sugar coats the back thus
contradicting the sociological
happenings. The way the tender
leaves are still fresh green while
the older bushes ripe to show
their diversified shades is clearly
displayed enough to give the
fashionable regulations and
prove mankind that having a
pleasant back is also mandatory.
The semi delicate fountain of
fringe portrays the dual faced
ying yang making an impression
of all the existing ups and
downs. The mandatory dualities
is well emphasized.

MOOD BOARDS & CONCEPTS
SCARLET:
Enchanting beauty wrapped around in a dazzling skin. The true embodiment of the sacred purity. It's said that the most
troubled are often the saints. May be its true when looking into the heart of scarlet. Caught in between two acceptable
shades, misery of being not recognized filled up the void causing chaos. The pretty pink flamingo getting prettier yet, looking
for nectar rather than fishes. The autumn leaves still holding on rather than falling down. How often could this correlation
between veins and lungs be seen? Empty veins and dried up lungs. They all tell the same story, the story of the tongue craving
Lollipop, the story of the girl seeking her long gone lover boy. All supporting the story of the not recognized scarlet.
The story of the color that is stuck between the brightness of Red and Orange. The story of the perfect blend that forever
creates gleam.
Scarlet- Isn't the girl...It’s the color of her eyes.

The Soothing leaves… A Perfect sync of Passionate ideals.
Oh Really??
Is this really Passion?
Well, what if I say you Otherwise? The Real Passion here is not to rejoice but to REVOLT.
PASSION…
A ferocious Cheetah awaiting its perfect moment to attack, A Spider web deserted by its insider leaving it to trap any other
habitant getting in, Two parrots keeping their eyes on their backs craving to hunt, The fond memories of a lover boy who
now sees his girl kissing another guy giving him a stronger reason to freeze the merry green Christmas tree into a frozen
apocalypse. The vengeance of the past awaiting to haunt the fond memories of future…
PASSION HERE LIES IN REVENGE. PASSION TO KILL, trapped in between Love for Life and Lust for Blood.

CONTRAST:
“Awwwwww, finally a Prince is born! My sweet little girl gave birth
to a baby boy! Wait, let me call all the relatives and make myself
proud.”
20yrs later
“Ladies and gentleman, with greatest pride let’s welcome our
International DRAG QUEEN…”
“Pls don’t tell anyone you are my grandson. Ashamed of you”
“But Granny, I won these prestigious awards...”
“Just get lost”
The words echo….
CONTRAST
Male/Female… Good/ Bad… Happy/Sad…Life/Death…
When everything in life is contrasting, what people don’t
accept is, a contrasting mindset. A kid born as a male isn’t
allowed to follow his Passion of being a Drag Queen. Forget
families and elders, the acceptance lacks even within the
teenage crowd. Being a fast-growing generation with total
freedom and abundance of resources, the only thing that is
lacking is acceptance. Why not accept the way love revolves?
What’s wrong if a guy decides to love felinity? When a girl
disguises herself as a Man, parents proudly say, “My daughter
is equal to 10 sons.” Why not say the same with a guy? At
this Internet age, we don’t need feminism/Male chauvinism.
The only thing we need is equality IRRESPECTIVE OF
GENDER. I don’t understand why rules vary with mere
presence of sex organs. Let’s not make efforts to rupture the
belief and tradition of the previous generation. Let’s take
responsibility to widen our mindset and make it a unsaid rule
to increase acceptance among our generation.
It is completely okay if you are a #Lesbian, #Gay, #Bisexual,
#Transgender or #Queer. Deep down we all are humans and
all of us deserve to be loved.
Spread Love! Life is a matter of CONTRASTS.
NEONS
Be conservative?
Be negotiable? Don’t be adamant?
Oops! Sorry, not your cup of tea!
Modernisation happened. Like years ago. Twentieth
century has been a epitome of new
commandments, new philosophies and new
practices.
But mindset?
• Suicidal rates have gone high.
• Molestation charges are higher than
murder/theft.
• Relationships have turned into dinner dates.
• Families have become nuclear.
• While Nuclear weapons have become buttons.
We achieved right? The cult of personality.
LET THINGS FADE.
Discover whom you are. The world doesn’t look
uninviting. It is glad to invite. It just depends on you.
If you ever wanted to be a consumer or a
consumable.
Whatever, Don’t let modernisation Take over your
originality. Be you, be vibrant.
Be NEON.

TRANSGENDER FABRIC PREFERENCE ANALYSIS
ABSTRACT
Every flower that blooms has its own crown. But what if the crowns are misplaced? It’s the same scenario with the
transgenders. With the purest of the souls trapped inside the misplaced bodies, they face the worst of the hardship while
continuing to shine through their life with their limited paths. While still smiling through the pain. Their appearance and
characteristics being the only handicaps, transgenders face a lot of stress and strain trying to compete with the rest of the world
that are mentally handicapped. Amidst all of these, what amazed the crowd is the blissful fashion sense of transgenders as they
bloom themselves adorned with the most traditional outfit every girl will have an eye on. Alas! They are judged. For what they
wear and also what they don’t wear. In this article we have a set of confessions which the pure souls have against our
contaminated ones. #LGBTQ
INTRODUCTION
The word ‘fashion’ is usually related to dress, but it also relates to manners and ways of behaviour. With the fast growing
consumerist culture everything which is advertised in a glamorous and charming manner becomes a fashion. In crude terms
fashion is a style of living. Naturally it is related to dress and manners. But manners imply something deeper than fashions. Because
fashion is comparatively superficial, and changes with the winds of change in certain races and people. The styles of dressing are
always in a fluid state, and before one fashion sets a foothold another pushes it out. Today the modern improvement in cosmetics
claim to make the old hags and frumps look tolerably young and smart. Fashion craze has banished sobriety. Life has become fast
and distrust for tradition is becoming a cult today. But today smoking and even drinking is no taboo in some societies. Since
fashion keeps changing, it expands our area of wants and desires. It is not a bad thing to be influenced by any ‘fashion’ but one
should always try to find out the logic behind that ‘fashion’ so that he does not become a mere victim of the consumerist culture
by spending money on every possible new ‘craze’.
GST AND ITS IMPLICATIONS
Abstract:
• It so happened and from the July of 2017 the price of majority of the products got shuffled up. Starting from
basic handloom products to the luxury products the prices either hiked or flunked due to the unexpected
implication of GST. But out of all these, there floats one question in minds of all people, Is GST, a profit/loss? Is this a
service to the poor, or a result of the external affairs of government? In order to answer few of these ‘Why is it so’
questions, here comes an elaborate analysis of how a garment is priced before and after GST and the change that is
brought because of GST.
Introduction - Launch of GST:
• The GST was launched at night time on one Gregorian calendar month 2017 by the President of Republic of India,
Pranab Mukherjee, and also the Government of Republic of India. The launch was marked by a historic time of day
(30 June – 01 July) session of each the homes of parliament convened at the Central Hall of the Parliament. Though
the session was attended by high-profile guests from the business and also the show business together with rattan
Tata, it had been boycotted by the opposition thanks to the anticipated issues that it had been sure to lead for the
center and socio-economic class Indians. it's one among the few time of day sessions that are control by the
parliament - the others being the declaration of India's independence on fifteen August 1947, and also the silver and
golden jubilees of that occasion. once its launch, the GST rates are changed multiple times, the latest being on 18
January 2018, where a panel of federal and state finance ministers decided to revise GST rates on 29 goods and 53
services.

DARK SIDE OF FASHION
Abstract:
“Walking on into the world of glamour, all she expected was gracing the magazine covers. Just the moment she thought her life is getting
her to a place she wanted, a storm that came from nowhere pulled her into it. It pulled, squeezed, and finally threw her into a world of
drugs and partying demons. Before she could figure out what’s going on she was wiped off, used and thrown away”
*end of the story*
Introduction:
On the face of it, some say they have the world at their feet. Great looks, abundant money, fame, spotlight, Vacations and lot more
just for the face that sells thousands of products. But behind the glitz and glamour there may be a lot that we don’t see until it is brushed
down under the carpet.
Modelling as every other person knows, is a public expression of elegance, the beauty that never fades. The model on ramp seems
to be the happiest person on earth. It looks almost like they are devoid of all worries that they walk around happily. But is it so? Their
onstage life is surely a glamourous elite one. The business as of today has become a place of sex scandals and human trade. Though
models enter in, knowing there are consequences, they only get to know 40% of what’s going on, the remaining 60% remains as a
surprise life offers them.
Our glossy industry provokes superficial criticism of models weight and body image, but the fact is that model’s clout in their
workplace is as tiny as their zero size frames.1 Though being a high time it’s our responsibility to delve beneath the surface and consider
the concerns of the models from a labor and public health standpoint. It may a reason of people that the photographs of models pervade
our culture and so they cannot help those who pervaded it. But we cannot promote blissful images when their life is at stake.13 This
effort to cleanse starts by giving the faces of businesses a voice, a voice by which they can be heard. Rectifying these errors begin by
seeing these models through a different lens; not as meat slaves but as human beings who deserve same rights and protection as us.
FASHION IN TIMES
Abstract:
The beginning in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated. Historians,
including James Laver and Fernand Braudel, date the start of Western fashion in clothing to the middle of the 14th century,
though it should be noted that they tend to rely heavily on contemporary imagery and illuminated manuscripts were not
common before the fourteenth century. The most dramatic early change in fashion was a sudden drastic shortening and
tightening of the male overgarment from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks, sometimes accompanied with stuffing in
the chest to make it look bigger.
This created the distinctive Western outline of a tailored top worn over leggings or trousers.
The pace of change accelerated considerably in the following century, and women and men's fashion, especially in the dressing
and adorning of the hair, became equally complex. Art historians are therefore able to use fashion with confidence and
precision to date images, often to within five years, particularly in the case of images from the 15th century. Initially, changes in
fashion led to a fragmentation across the upper classes of Europe of what had previously been a very similar style of dressing
and the subsequent development of distinctive national styles. These national styles remained very different until a counter-
movement in the 17th to 18th centuries imposed similar styles once again, mostly originating from Ancient Régime France.
Though the rich usually led fashion, the increasing affluence of early modern Europe led to the bourgeoisie and even peasants
following trends at a distance, but still uncomfortably close for the elites – a factor that Fernand Braudel regards as one of the
main motors of changing fashion.
APPAREL INDUSTRIAL ANALYSIS
WORKSTATION DESIGNING
Abstract:
India is agreed to carve a name for it as a hub for export-oriented garment manufacturing centre globally. Many researches prove that the
garment industry is the largest manufacturing sector in India. Reports also state that the workers in the apparel hub go through a lot of
neck pain, lower back pain etc. Thus, a good ergonomics is very important for the workers to experience so that they can they can work
effectively and make the apparel hub as the leading hub in the world. Through literature review done based on the works carried out
majorly in India, it is found that the poorly designed workstation contributes to give trauma disorders which involves musculoskeletal
disorders of the upper limbs, shoulders and neck. The main aim of this paper is to reflect upon the work station designs which directly
relates to the good ergonomics so that the workers can work efficiently. Good ergonomics makes it very better for the workers to work
very efficiently which again relates to numerous factors that should be improved so that the efficiency can be increased. To recognize
ergonomics risk factors in the work place is an essential step in correcting the hazards and improving worker protection. For the worker
protection factors like proper layout of the work station, proper arrangement of the table and chair, arrangement of the machines etc
should be considered while effectively designing the work station.
Introduction:
Work Station is a place where operators perform their job. It is the place where operators find their equipments to finish their task. Thus,
the work of the operators completely depends upon the work station that is the facility and the environment that the operator has to
work for. A well-designed work station is very important for the productivity of the work that is done by the operators. The work station
should be designed according to the needs of the individual workers depending upon the type of workers and the task that they do. The
work station should be designed keeping in mind the machineries that are used and the machines that are continuously operated by the
workers. A well-organised work station should be well-lit, free from the noise, chemical hazards. That provides comfort zone for the
workers to work, involves minimal material handling and thereby reduces fatigue and increases the efficiency of the workers. To design the
work station several factors are considered. The layout is the major factor of work station design which involves the design of the
arrangement of the workstation like the placement of the machineries, chairs, tables, support for the body parts while working in the
machines, equipments arrangements ets.
EXPERIMENTS
BIO DIESEL EXTRACTION
Abstract:
• Since the dawn of the civilization humans have relied on plants for survival. Even today plants influence almost everything we do
either directly or indirectly. They are the one source of food, fuel, shelter, cloths and medicines. Biodiesel is an eco-friendly clean
alternative diesel fuel that is derived from oils and fats of plants like Sunflower, Clonola or Jatropha. These natural oils when
processed chemically show striking similarities to petroleum derived diesel. It can directly be used or blended with petroleum
derived diesel. Biodiesel is prepared by a process called Transesterification. The process of converting vegetable oil into biodiesel
fuel is called Transesterification. The result of this project is the formation of 2 main by-products, biodiesel and glycerine.
Glycerine is much denser than biodiesel so they can be separated easily in the settling vessel. The biodiesel then transferred
separately and is washed thoroughly. The main Advantages of Biodiesel are Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic. It produces
approximately 80% less carbon dioxide emission and almost 100% less sulphur dioxide. Biodiesel is more lubricating than diesel
fuel, increasing the life cycle of the engine or generator.
Introduction:
• The use of reclaimed vegetable oil from restaurants, for use as a fuel for road vehicles, has received a lot of attention in recent
years. Used vegetable oils contain solids and free fatty acids due to oil breakdown during the frying process. Normally, the used
oil must be filtered and the quantity of the free fatty acids must be determined so that the chemicals necessary for the breaking
down of the cooking oil can be calculated. In this experiment the biodiesel will be made from fresh vegetable oil to avoid the
solids and a titration to determine the mass of sodium hydroxide needed to react with the whole oil molecules.
• All diesel engines and vehicles can use biodiesel or biodiesel blends. Certain older vehicles built before 1993 may require
replacement of fuel lines which contain natural rubber, as biodiesel can cause these lines to swell or crack. Biodiesel can be used
100% (B100) or in blends with petroleum diesel fuel. Blends are indicated by B##, which correspond to the percentage of
biodiesel in the blended fuel. For example, a 20% blend of biodiesel with 80% diesel fuel is called B20. When biodiesel is first used
in a vehicle, it may release fuel tank deposits which can lead to fuel filter plugging. After this initial period, a user can switch
between biodiesel and petroleum diesel whenever needed or desired, without modification.
SYNTHESIS OF NATURAL DYES
Abstract:
Dyes are a major part of textile industry. Without dyes most of the garments would be monotonous and not so
attractive towards humankind. Not just limiting to textile industry but most of the major food, beverage, ceramic industries
also rely on dyes for more. To suffice the increasing demand for dyes, dye manufacturers adopt lot of techniques to produce
dyes. In this case, when the raw materials are running low and the demand is highly increasing, with no other alternate
manufacturers are forced to move to unnatural and non-eco-friendly alternate raw materials thereby causing a lot of harm
to the final end product. In this case, we can see lot of food materials being hazardous to human body and a lot of fabric
materials causing allergies and rashes. To get this right, and to balance the replenishing material supply we have
experimenting the ways to produce natural dyes that are actually eco-friendly by using kitchen wastes and food materials we
generally throw away.
Introduction :
The use of dyes plays a major role in our daily activities. We use dyes for almost everything we put our hands into. In this
case, it is important to make sure the dye we use is completely harmless and skin friendly. Keeping this in mind, we devised
the already existing concept of creating colored dyes using kitchen wastes and food products which we usually throw out
from our kitchen. In this case, we ended up reducing wastage as well as produce a usable product from the waste that is
generated.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF LOW-COST EMI SHIELDING CELLULAR PHONE POUCH USING
CARBON FIBRE BASED NON-WOVEN MATERIALS.
Abstract:
In this research work, carbon fiber based needle punched non-woven fabric material was developed for electromagnetic interference
shielding (EMI) applications. In present decades, smartphone usage is increasing rapidly due to user friendly operating system and lower selling price.
The smartphone features attract all group of people and can be operated easily by finger touch. So, anyone can use it for voice calls, video calls, file
sharing and photo shooting. Albeit, the awareness of smartphone radiation and its effect on human being is not reached to majority of people who
use smart phones. Since from the invention of smartphone, many research works have been focussed on the safety pf human organs from the
radiation is higher at low batter level and vice versa. The smartphone radiation causes ear and brain diseases (such as tumour and cancer). In order to
reduce the EMI, a multi-layer nonwoven material is developed with three different fibers namely cotton, polyester and carbon fibers. The inner layer of
web consists of carbon fibers and outer layers consist of polyester fibers web. The cotton layer covers both top and bottom sides of carbon web
layer.
Introduction:
For EMI shielding purpose, the carbon fibre (TAIRYFIL – TC 35 – 12K from Formosa Plastics Corporation, Taiwan) is used for making
nonwoven. The shielding effectiveness (SE) of the nonwoven material was tested by employing microwave X-band generation set- up under the
frequency range of 8 to 12GHz. The test was carried out by adjusting the sample position from 1MM to 1-meter distance between the receiver horn
antenna to transmitter horn antenna in the set0up. It was observed that, the microwave absorption of the carbon fibre based needle punched
nonwoven results significant absorption level. The calculated SE of the nonwoven material is about 33.45dB. This value is in line with the lowest
effective level range (from 10 to 30 dB) of shielding standard. By the way, the carbon fibre reinforced needle punched nonwoven material may be
suitable alternate material for manufacturing EMI shielding functional interlining component of smartphone pouch.

EXTRA CURRICULAR
LOGO DESIGNING
Dope Shit:
Combining a series of elements such that each say a different story is what
makes dope shit an unique one. The idealistic ‘D’ has an enclosed playboy
logo modified to show the lifestyle. The hallucinated ‘O’ existing as a vibe
for the saint with weed, The alphabets ‘P’ emphasizing the craze for graffiti
and ‘E’ onlooking the player on the pacman game. ‘S’ signifying dollar, making
it important to know the value of money in social marketing that is silently
portrayed by alphabet ‘H’ in the form of hashtag, again over looking the
importance of social marketing for a business. ‘I’ showing the exclamation
mark and the final ‘T’ representing the cross with its arms erased making
the most critical part of the logo.
Princhies:
The online Shopping cart inspired by the cutest emoji in WhatsApp, ‘the
Dino’. For some reason, the craze for the dino emoji started and this lead
to design the logo of the online chain of store by the usage of Dino
themes shopping card and the neon colored egg that that was assumes to
belong to Dino. The headphones on top of the egg denote the sale of
electronic gadgets and also the way modernisation has evolved affecting
even the ones in womb (here, egg). It isn’t a bare joke but a small
awareness emphasizing the effects our next generation has based on our
activity today. So, before you do something crazy, think twice. You aren’t
affecting only you.
The Manual Mode:
The very first and the most
minimalistic logo ever created.
Emphasizing the uniqueness of manual
operations in the world of automation,
the manual mode logo has made use of
fingers to capture images just as how
we symbolized photography since the
olden days. The lens eye was created
using a series of circles each finely
crafted to match the proportions and
color contrasts.
LOGO DESIGNING
The Mind Business:
A podcast channel logo designed to enhance the thinking capacity and to empower the super power of
the brain. In order to highlight the power of mind, the space above the alphabet M is shielded by a layout
of brain just like the way the brain stays on top of our human body. The neon highlights on the corners of
the logo show the need to highlight the touch points and to act as a empowering and enriching element.
The Mind is our controller. The mind is the administrator. But don’t forget, we decide what we think.
This Podcast logo also gives out the deepest meaning of what we want our of life. The surrounded
darkness signifies the dense externals. The inner silver crown denoted how positive you can be despite the
surrounding evil. The logo residing inner side represents the fact that, Only if you can maintain a bright you,
you survive. If not, in the lost darkness, you are lost too.
The Spotter’s Stop:
A small business, as we all think is not just another mom and pop store opened up. But rather it’s the dream of
a budding entrepreneur making ways to change his life and hustle for himself. In that way, this logo was designer
for an online retailer who aimed at setting his targets high and achieving them. The logo signifies the proverb
“Reach for the Moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” So, we had a moon which hold the shopping
basket with aa star. This way the inspiration is taken from the sky that’s always infinite. The Sun and the Moon
together signifies the 24 hour service that the retailer provides. The Basket hanging on the moon gives a ethnic
view as to how in the olden days they calculated the life time of a child through the phase of the Moon in which
the child was born. The color represents various contrasts and signify the diversity while the grey colored font
give the mild aesthetic.

  • 3. THE GOTHIC FASHION INSPIRATION BOARD MOODBOARD COLOR BOARD Dating back to 1980's the Gothic subculture belongs to the dark and gloomy ages of Edwardian era. Though stereotyped it is a movement in itself and makes people follow aesthetic and literature of earlier era. Gothic garments represent death to show how modernization killed humanity. The vampire’s blood represents death of humanity. The most outstanding feature of the Gothic fashion is, it instills Victorian fashion and doesn’t let modern fashion take over it. It communicates a much stronger message of life, “No matter what life gives you, you only take what you want to take.” It signifies boldness and the need for individuality in this world of conventionality.
  • 4. Fish net Uni - Flow Excessive Sleeves The jacket The Connectors X - Cross Strip Back The SideWrap The Skirt Stockings The Pumpkin Pleats The Ghost Sleeve The Cloak The Gothic Enchantress The Enchantress Cape The Gothic Sleeve Shredded Bikini ILLUSTRATIONS Workspace: Coral Draw X7
  • 5. PHOTOSHOOT Location: People,Vivira Mall, Navalur Shot On: Canon 70D
  • 6. SURREAL INSPIRATION BOARD MOODBOARD COLORBOARD Driven from the greenery of nature swollen across the peculiar pink staples, that’s where life hovers around. The mystery in a woman, her contrasting sense of calm and storm metaphoric to the contrasting croton is the magic that wakes the human kind from the never ending dreams of greed and pleasure. The Flamingo that’s as gentle as the river algae walks on rocks, the ever fresh rose, has a sense of glimmer. The mysterious girl is forced to paint her lips green. The lizard hangs overhead with the chance of falling down every passing minute. This is ‘Surreal’, the strange concept of life and its existence. The irony that keeps life running every minute despite vague concepts of insecurities is what keeps us going. Life is what we make it is an old phenomenon. Life is what lies beneath the closed curtains and unraveled knots are what breaks down the real meaning and cause of our existence.
  • 7. PHOTOSHOOT Style Name: Scrambled Identity “Deformity empowers uniformity” The floral cut worked bosom creates an illusion of wanting more than what’s gifted. The human identity of greed while still preaching satisfaction has become the modern prayer. The garment gets the scrambled identity of the model and gets her perfect curves well dictated while still maintaining the mystery of her. The circular cut at the back is still maintained by the perfection of the straps that preserve something which is not supposed to overlooked Upon. The thin line between lust and modesty is well drafted just like the stem staying on ground and roots off ground. The dual shades of the skirt speaks the existence of minute differences while still making efforts to stay polished. Style Name:Twisty Twister Wearing the twister is not as twisting as it seems like. The loops in the sleeve proves that every vacuum is created for a reason. Leaving a space for things to fit in. This works out just like the way stomata respires and humans find someone to complete their incomplete life. The Fulfilling attire emphasizes the sleeves the way the croton plant emphasizes its leaves. Proving again that the add-ons add glory than the basics. “Confuse the confused before the confused confuses you” Style Name: Lamina Duplex “Binaries of life comes often not from the right side” Lamina Duplex portrays the Unusual sensation through the side flap enhancing the shades of the croton leaves. This style emphasizes the mood and temptation of the icon rather than the curves. Thus, making sure the inner beauty is magnified than the temporary glamour. Merging with the theme, the add-ons prove that life isn’t just about what’s mandatory. The glory of life stays only when the wants are magnified and emphasized more than the basics. This is where the strange moral of life comes into play. Location: TATA homes Shot On: Canon 70D
  • 8. PHOTOSHOOT Style Name: Pixie Patches “What holds the neck, Controls Life” Clinging on to the highest point of torso, the crop comes until belly button still staying high, Metaphoric to the large lamina that clings on to the petiole while dangling thru in the winds. Holding on has become a luxury in this century which craves for repetitions. The sociological life has become a scrap book that holds all the patches of heart together, yet separated. Its an irony that the closely related ones are the ones those are deeply far away. The patch work skirt magnifies the gradient shades of the spotted leaves. The mini skirt preserves the modesty while still flaunting the pointed legs. Location: TATA homes Shot On: Canon 70D Style Name: Strip Tease “No Strings Attached!!” Strip Tease is the garment that makes the crowd turn back to face the world of Glam. Petioles joining together to hold the lamina and the stalk together is the same as the strips hold the face and back together. The emphasis point of the garment is shown through the highlighted straps that creates a half-hidden identity. The majestic identity is created through the midi dress showing off the girl inside the lady. No matter how a baby girl becomes a woman, the girl in her is still kept alive and wandering around. Simile to this is the tender leaves gleaming the best thru the dense greens. Style Name: Back Licker “Kick the front, Lick the back” Contrasting to the usual scenario of sweet front and salted back, the back-licker sugar coats the back thus contradicting the sociological happenings. The way the tender leaves are still fresh green while the older bushes ripe to show their diversified shades is clearly displayed enough to give the fashionable regulations and prove mankind that having a pleasant back is also mandatory. The semi delicate fountain of fringe portrays the dual faced ying yang making an impression of all the existing ups and downs. The mandatory dualities is well emphasized.

  • 11. MOOD BOARDS & CONCEPTS SCARLET: Enchanting beauty wrapped around in a dazzling skin. The true embodiment of the sacred purity. It's said that the most troubled are often the saints. May be its true when looking into the heart of scarlet. Caught in between two acceptable shades, misery of being not recognized filled up the void causing chaos. The pretty pink flamingo getting prettier yet, looking for nectar rather than fishes. The autumn leaves still holding on rather than falling down. How often could this correlation between veins and lungs be seen? Empty veins and dried up lungs. They all tell the same story, the story of the tongue craving Lollipop, the story of the girl seeking her long gone lover boy. All supporting the story of the not recognized scarlet. The story of the color that is stuck between the brightness of Red and Orange. The story of the perfect blend that forever creates gleam. Scarlet- Isn't the girl...It’s the color of her eyes. Mood Board Series: Name: Scarlet Shade: Scarlet ( #FF2400 ) Theme: Depression- The effects of loneliness and nonrecognition PASSION: A couple kissing each other… Two Parrots cherishing their “happy together” moments… A perfect spider web adorned by crystalline water droplets… The Soothing leaves… A Perfect sync of Passionate ideals. Oh Really?? Is this really Passion? Well, what if I say you Otherwise? The Real Passion here is not to rejoice but to REVOLT. PASSION… A ferocious Cheetah awaiting its perfect moment to attack, A Spider web deserted by its insider leaving it to trap any other habitant getting in, Two parrots keeping their eyes on their backs craving to hunt, The fond memories of a lover boy who now sees his girl kissing another guy giving him a stronger reason to freeze the merry green Christmas tree into a frozen apocalypse. The vengeance of the past awaiting to haunt the fond memories of future… PASSION HERE LIES IN REVENGE. PASSION TO KILL, trapped in between Love for Life and Lust for Blood. Mood Board Series: Name: Passion Shade: Purple ( #800080) Theme: Passion & Revenge Workspace:Adobe Photoshop CS3
  • 12. CONTRAST: “Awwwwww, finally a Prince is born! My sweet little girl gave birth to a baby boy! Wait, let me call all the relatives and make myself proud.” 20yrs later “Ladies and gentleman, with greatest pride let’s welcome our International DRAG QUEEN…” “Pls don’t tell anyone you are my grandson. Ashamed of you” “But Granny, I won these prestigious awards...” “Just get lost” The words echo…. CONTRAST Male/Female… Good/ Bad… Happy/Sad…Life/Death… When everything in life is contrasting, what people don’t accept is, a contrasting mindset. A kid born as a male isn’t allowed to follow his Passion of being a Drag Queen. Forget families and elders, the acceptance lacks even within the teenage crowd. Being a fast-growing generation with total freedom and abundance of resources, the only thing that is lacking is acceptance. Why not accept the way love revolves? What’s wrong if a guy decides to love felinity? When a girl disguises herself as a Man, parents proudly say, “My daughter is equal to 10 sons.” Why not say the same with a guy? At this Internet age, we don’t need feminism/Male chauvinism. The only thing we need is equality IRRESPECTIVE OF GENDER. I don’t understand why rules vary with mere presence of sex organs. • 15. TRANSGENDER FABRIC PREFERENCE ANALYSIS ABSTRACT Every flower that blooms has its own crown. But what if the crowns are misplaced? It’s the same scenario with the transgenders. With the purest of the souls trapped inside the misplaced bodies, they face the worst of the hardship while continuing to shine through their life with their limited paths. While still smiling through the pain. Their appearance and characteristics being the only handicaps, transgenders face a lot of stress and strain trying to compete with the rest of the world that are mentally handicapped. Amidst all of these, what amazed the crowd is the blissful fashion sense of transgenders as they bloom themselves adorned with the most traditional outfit every girl will have an eye on. Alas! They are judged. For what they wear and also what they don’t wear. In this article we have a set of confessions which the pure souls have against our contaminated ones. #LGBTQ INTRODUCTION The word ‘fashion’ is usually related to dress, but it also relates to manners and ways of behaviour. With the fast growing consumerist culture everything which is advertised in a glamorous and charming manner becomes a fashion. In crude terms fashion is a style of living. Naturally it is related to dress and manners. But manners imply something deeper than fashions. Because fashion is comparatively superficial, and changes with the winds of change in certain races and people. The styles of dressing are always in a fluid state, and before one fashion sets a foothold another pushes it out. Today the modern improvement in cosmetics claim to make the old hags and frumps look tolerably young and smart. Fashion craze has banished sobriety. Life has become fast and distrust for tradition is becoming a cult today. But today smoking and even drinking is no taboo in some societies. Since fashion keeps changing, it expands our area of wants and desires. It is not a bad thing to be influenced by any ‘fashion’ but one should always try to find out the logic behind that ‘fashion’ so that he does not become a mere victim of the consumerist culture by spending money on every possible new ‘craze’.
  • 16. GST AND ITS IMPLICATIONS Abstract: • It so happened and from the July of 2017 the price of majority of the products got shuffled up. Starting from basic handloom products to the luxury products the prices either hiked or flunked due to the unexpected implication of GST. But out of all these, there floats one question in minds of all people, Is GST, a profit/loss? Is this a service to the poor, or a result of the external affairs of government? In order to answer few of these ‘Why is it so’ questions, here comes an elaborate analysis of how a garment is priced before and after GST and the change that is brought because of GST. Introduction - Launch of GST: • The GST was launched at night time on one Gregorian calendar month 2017 by the President of Republic of India, Pranab Mukherjee, and also the Government of Republic of India. The launch was marked by a historic time of day (30 June – 01 July) session of each the homes of parliament convened at the Central Hall of the Parliament. Though the session was attended by high-profile guests from the business and also the show business together with rattan Tata, it had been boycotted by the opposition thanks to the anticipated issues that it had been sure to lead for the center and socio-economic class Indians. it's one among the few time of day sessions that are control by the parliament - the others being the declaration of India's independence on fifteen August 1947, and also the silver and golden jubilees of that occasion. once its launch, the GST rates are changed multiple times, the latest being on 18 January 2018, where a panel of federal and state finance ministers decided to revise GST rates on 29 goods and 53 services.
  • 18. DARK SIDE OF FASHION Abstract: “Walking on into the world of glamour, all she expected was gracing the magazine covers. Just the moment she thought her life is getting her to a place she wanted, a storm that came from nowhere pulled her into it. It pulled, squeezed, and finally threw her into a world of drugs and partying demons. Before she could figure out what’s going on she was wiped off, used and thrown away” *end of the story* Introduction: On the face of it, some say they have the world at their feet. Great looks, abundant money, fame, spotlight, Vacations and lot more just for the face that sells thousands of products. But behind the glitz and glamour there may be a lot that we don’t see until it is brushed down under the carpet. Modelling as every other person knows, is a public expression of elegance, the beauty that never fades. The model on ramp seems to be the happiest person on earth. It looks almost like they are devoid of all worries that they walk around happily. But is it so? Their onstage life is surely a glamourous elite one. The business as of today has become a place of sex scandals and human trade. Though models enter in, knowing there are consequences, they only get to know 40% of what’s going on, the remaining 60% remains as a surprise life offers them. Our glossy industry provokes superficial criticism of models weight and body image, but the fact is that model’s clout in their workplace is as tiny as their zero size frames.1 Though being a high time it’s our responsibility to delve beneath the surface and consider the concerns of the models from a labor and public health standpoint. It may a reason of people that the photographs of models pervade our culture and so they cannot help those who pervaded it. But we cannot promote blissful images when their life is at stake.13 This effort to cleanse starts by giving the faces of businesses a voice, a voice by which they can be heard. Rectifying these errors begin by seeing these models through a different lens; not as meat slaves but as human beings who deserve same rights and protection as us.
  • 19. FASHION IN TIMES Abstract: The beginning in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated. Historians, including James Laver and Fernand Braudel, date the start of Western fashion in clothing to the middle of the 14th century, though it should be noted that they tend to rely heavily on contemporary imagery and illuminated manuscripts were not common before the fourteenth century. The most dramatic early change in fashion was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male overgarment from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks, sometimes accompanied with stuffing in the chest to make it look bigger. This created the distinctive Western outline of a tailored top worn over leggings or trousers. The pace of change accelerated considerably in the following century, and women and men's fashion, especially in the dressing and adorning of the hair, became equally complex. Art historians are therefore able to use fashion with confidence and precision to date images, often to within five years, particularly in the case of images from the 15th century. Initially, changes in fashion led to a fragmentation across the upper classes of Europe of what had previously been a very similar style of dressing and the subsequent development of distinctive national styles. These national styles remained very different until a counter- movement in the 17th to 18th centuries imposed similar styles once again, mostly originating from Ancient Régime France. Though the rich usually led fashion, the increasing affluence of early modern Europe led to the bourgeoisie and even peasants following trends at a distance, but still uncomfortably close for the elites – a factor that Fernand Braudel regards as one of the main motors of changing fashion.
  • 21. WORKSTATION DESIGNING Abstract: India is agreed to carve a name for it as a hub for export-oriented garment manufacturing centre globally. Many researches prove that the garment industry is the largest manufacturing sector in India. Reports also state that the workers in the apparel hub go through a lot of neck pain, lower back pain etc. Thus, a good ergonomics is very important for the workers to experience so that they can they can work effectively and make the apparel hub as the leading hub in the world. Through literature review done based on the works carried out majorly in India, it is found that the poorly designed workstation contributes to give trauma disorders which involves musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs, shoulders and neck. The main aim of this paper is to reflect upon the work station designs which directly relates to the good ergonomics so that the workers can work efficiently. Good ergonomics makes it very better for the workers to work very efficiently which again relates to numerous factors that should be improved so that the efficiency can be increased. To recognize ergonomics risk factors in the work place is an essential step in correcting the hazards and improving worker protection. For the worker protection factors like proper layout of the work station, proper arrangement of the table and chair, arrangement of the machines etc should be considered while effectively designing the work station. Introduction: Work Station is a place where operators perform their job. It is the place where operators find their equipments to finish their task. Thus, the work of the operators completely depends upon the work station that is the facility and the environment that the operator has to work for. A well-designed work station is very important for the productivity of the work that is done by the operators. The work station should be designed according to the needs of the individual workers depending upon the type of workers and the task that they do. The work station should be designed keeping in mind the machineries that are used and the machines that are continuously operated by the workers. A well-organised work station should be well-lit, free from the noise, chemical hazards. That provides comfort zone for the workers to work, involves minimal material handling and thereby reduces fatigue and increases the efficiency of the workers. To design the work station several factors are considered. The layout is the major factor of work station design which involves the design of the arrangement of the workstation like the placement of the machineries, chairs, tables, support for the body parts while working in the machines, equipments arrangements ets.
  • 23. BIO DIESEL EXTRACTION Abstract: • Since the dawn of the civilization humans have relied on plants for survival. Even today plants influence almost everything we do either directly or indirectly. They are the one source of food, fuel, shelter, cloths and medicines. Biodiesel is an eco-friendly clean alternative diesel fuel that is derived from oils and fats of plants like Sunflower, Clonola or Jatropha. These natural oils when processed chemically show striking similarities to petroleum derived diesel. It can directly be used or blended with petroleum derived diesel. Biodiesel is prepared by a process called Transesterification. The process of converting vegetable oil into biodiesel fuel is called Transesterification. The result of this project is the formation of 2 main by-products, biodiesel and glycerine. Glycerine is much denser than biodiesel so they can be separated easily in the settling vessel. The biodiesel then transferred separately and is washed thoroughly. The main Advantages of Biodiesel are Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic. It produces approximately 80% less carbon dioxide emission and almost 100% less sulphur dioxide. Biodiesel is more lubricating than diesel fuel, increasing the life cycle of the engine or generator. Introduction: • The use of reclaimed vegetable oil from restaurants, for use as a fuel for road vehicles, has received a lot of attention in recent years. Used vegetable oils contain solids and free fatty acids due to oil breakdown during the frying process. Normally, the used oil must be filtered and the quantity of the free fatty acids must be determined so that the chemicals necessary for the breaking down of the cooking oil can be calculated. In this experiment the biodiesel will be made from fresh vegetable oil to avoid the solids and a titration to determine the mass of sodium hydroxide needed to react with the whole oil molecules. • All diesel engines and vehicles can use biodiesel or biodiesel blends. Certain older vehicles built before 1993 may require replacement of fuel lines which contain natural rubber, as biodiesel can cause these lines to swell or crack. Biodiesel can be used 100% (B100) or in blends with petroleum diesel fuel. Blends are indicated by B##, which correspond to the percentage of biodiesel in the blended fuel. For example, a 20% blend of biodiesel with 80% diesel fuel is called B20. When biodiesel is first used in a vehicle, it may release fuel tank deposits which can lead to fuel filter plugging. After this initial period, a user can switch between biodiesel and petroleum diesel whenever needed or desired, without modification.
  • 24. SYNTHESIS OF NATURAL DYES Abstract: Dyes are a major part of textile industry. Without dyes most of the garments would be monotonous and not so attractive towards humankind. Not just limiting to textile industry but most of the major food, beverage, ceramic industries also rely on dyes for more. To suffice the increasing demand for dyes, dye manufacturers adopt lot of techniques to produce dyes. In this case, when the raw materials are running low and the demand is highly increasing, with no other alternate manufacturers are forced to move to unnatural and non-eco-friendly alternate raw materials thereby causing a lot of harm to the final end product. In this case, we can see lot of food materials being hazardous to human body and a lot of fabric materials causing allergies and rashes. To get this right, and to balance the replenishing material supply we have experimenting the ways to produce natural dyes that are actually eco-friendly by using kitchen wastes and food materials we generally throw away. Introduction : The use of dyes plays a major role in our daily activities. We use dyes for almost everything we put our hands into. In this case, it is important to make sure the dye we use is completely harmless and skin friendly. Keeping this in mind, we devised the already existing concept of creating colored dyes using kitchen wastes and food products which we usually throw out from our kitchen. In this case, we ended up reducing wastage as well as produce a usable product from the waste that is generated.
  • 26. DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF LOW-COST EMI SHIELDING CELLULAR PHONE POUCH USING CARBON FIBRE BASED NON-WOVEN MATERIALS. Abstract: In this research work, carbon fiber based needle punched non-woven fabric material was developed for electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI) applications. In present decades, smartphone usage is increasing rapidly due to user friendly operating system and lower selling price. The smartphone features attract all group of people and can be operated easily by finger touch. So, anyone can use it for voice calls, video calls, file sharing and photo shooting. Albeit, the awareness of smartphone radiation and its effect on human being is not reached to majority of people who use smart phones. Since from the invention of smartphone, many research works have been focussed on the safety pf human organs from the radiation is higher at low batter level and vice versa. The smartphone radiation causes ear and brain diseases (such as tumour and cancer). In order to reduce the EMI, a multi-layer nonwoven material is developed with three different fibers namely cotton, polyester and carbon fibers. The inner layer of web consists of carbon fibers and outer layers consist of polyester fibers web. The cotton layer covers both top and bottom sides of carbon web layer. Introduction: For EMI shielding purpose, the carbon fibre (TAIRYFIL – TC 35 – 12K from Formosa Plastics Corporation, Taiwan) is used for making nonwoven. The shielding effectiveness (SE) of the nonwoven material was tested by employing microwave X-band generation set- up under the frequency range of 8 to 12GHz. The test was carried out by adjusting the sample position from 1MM to 1-meter distance between the receiver horn antenna to transmitter horn antenna in the set0up. It was observed that, the microwave absorption of the carbon fibre based needle punched nonwoven results significant absorption level. The calculated SE of the nonwoven material is about 33.45dB. This value is in line with the lowest effective level range (from 10 to 30 dB) of shielding standard. By the way, the carbon fibre reinforced needle punched nonwoven material may be suitable alternate material for manufacturing EMI shielding functional interlining component of smartphone pouch.
