Awareness Objective Completed. I spent the first ten hours of my LiNCS experience
researching scholarly journals and peer reviewed articles to find out more information about
previous studies on how art affects the health of patients and staff in a healthcare facility. I
compiled my research into a survey to give to patients, staff and visitors to Community
Memorial Hospital in Cloquet MN.

b) As a LiNCS student, what was your greatest moment of joy?
9. The greatest moment for me was the day that I met Leslie PalmerRoss, my manager for Art
Force. We arranged to meet in Cloquet and do a mock interview. We had only been speaking
on the phone or through emails. She came across very genuinely and seemed very interested
in my skills and experience. I felt comfortable and confident during our meeting. I also met the
CEO of Cloquet Memorial Hospital, Rick Breuer. He said that he was very interested in my
survey and the results. He was glad to have the research done and thanked me.
10) How did this experience impact your career choice?
I am not finished with the project, as I am still waiting for the surveys to be completed. I thought that it
would be the best idea to allow for more time, despite the required amount of hours for my LiNCS
experience being short and the completion of this assignment. I was thanked by Community Memorial
Hospital and ArtForce for my dedication to the project. I was researching Art Force’s website and
found that they are hiring. I applied and am waiting to hear back. I believe that this project and all of
its challenges, has been to my benefit because I gave gained experience in research and research
design, it applies to both my major and my minor in a topic that I care about, and it gave me the
opportunity to network with people outside of Duluth. I have recently found out about an opportunity to
intern with the University of Florida researching arts and health journal articles that I will be applying
for this summer.

challenge was not having the support of Community Memorial Hospital or the first half

experience and my implementation of the surveys and he was not available to get me
set up or answer any questions.
i) How did you handle it?
