Introduction
1. Cisco offers several computer hardware networking
courses that provide in-depth training in routers and
networking. Among the various courses, the CCNA
course (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is a
certification program for entry-level network
engineers. Through the course, we can get to learn
all about routers and switches. It aims to enhance
our networking knowledge. Now a days it is one of
the best IT course, students are trained to install,
configure and operate the routers and switches.
4
5
2. CCNA helps the students to build up a good idea
relating to WAN / LAN connections. Various
protocols including IP, IGP, EGP, VLAN,
Ethernet, Serial, ACL, NAT etc. are also included
in this certification course.
3. Future Job Roles:
a) Network Specialist
b) Network Administrator
c) Network Support Engineer
Objective
This course provides students with the necessary
knowledge and skills to perform as a network
administrator.
The benefits of Certification are:
1.Certification provides a standard way of measuring
technical skills.
2.Provide job opportunities.
3.Certification provides worldwide validation of our
skills.

IP Addressing
1. If a device wants to communicate using TCP/IP. It
needs an IP address.
2. IP addressing was designed to allow the host of one
network to communicate with a host on other
network.
3. IP addresses are further divided into to parts i.e.
a) Network ID
b) Host ID
4. Based on these two parts you can extract the
information about the class of an IP address.
12
IP Address Classes
13Fig.6 IP Classes and Private IP Range
Routing
1. Routing is a process of selecting a path inside a
network, along which to send network traffic.
2. The network device which is responsible for routing
process is Router.
3. To route a router needs to do following things:
a) Know the destination address.
b) Discover the possible routes.
c) Select the best route.
d) Maintain and verify the routing information
14
Routing Protocols
1. Routing Protocols are the software that allow routes
to dynamically advertise and learn routes, determine
which routes are available and which are the most
efficient routes to a destination.
2. Usually two types of protocols are used in
internetworks:
a) Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP): These are used to
exchange information in the same autonomous
system(AS).
15
16
There are some IGP mentioned below:
i.Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
ii.Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
iii.Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
b)Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP): These are used to
communicate between Autonomous systems(AS). EGP is
commonly used between hosts on the Internet to
exchange routing table information.
example: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
IGP And EGP
17Fig.7 Difference Between IGP and EGP
Some Useful Concepts
1. ACL (Access Control List): This networking
concept is very useful for security purpose, as this is
used to keep a check on the unwanted hosts who
wants to get access of your network or system.
2. NAT(Network Address Translator): the intention
behind using NAT is to decrease the overwhelming
amount of public IP address required in your
networking environment, by allowing duplicate IP
addresses in your network and whenever they try to
access the outside network they just translate the
duplicate IP into a valid IP.
18
19
3. VLAN (Virtual LAN): It is a networking concept
which is used to divide a LAN virtually into different
separate LAN.
4. VPN (Virtual Private Network): This networking
technique is very important for security purpose, as it
uses “tunnelling” in order to hide the intermediate
routes between host and destination system, so that
no one can trace the actual route of data transfer.
5. Wifi: it is a classical example of wireless networking.
With this technology one can easily form a network
without getting physically connected.
Project Work

Introduction Of Project
Name : Hotel Network Topology
1.In this project, I have tried to draw a schematic
working model of a hotel . The main motive behind
taking this project was to understand the Networking of
an enterprise or any such Organisation.
2.Working on this project gave us the opportunity to
explore the basic things that should be kept in mind
while designing network for any organisation.

2. IP Addressing ( Ethernet / Serials / Computers)
3. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
4. Routing (Routing Information Protocol)
5. DNS (Domain Name System)
6. Password security on router
7. Telnet
8. Access-point Password ( For Wireless Connections )
23
Working Description
A network topology is the pattern in which nodes (i.e.,
computers, printers, routers or other devices) are
connected to a local area network (LAN) or other
network via links. Basically, in this project we have
used Local Area Network as well as Wide Area
Network for networking configuration which we can
command from a single place or the main server by
using Telnet technique.
24
Project Scenario
25
Fig.9 Design of Hotel Network Topology
Future Scope
1. Better topological arrangements.
2. Introduction of new smart devices.
3. Introduction of advance techniques.
4. The introduction of wireless router networking.
5. Enhancement of security level.
26
Conclusion
1. This project actually gives the overview that how
enterprise networking is done and how it works.
2. By using advance networking fundamentals we can
enhance our skills and knowledge.

  • 4. Introduction 1. Cisco offers several computer hardware networking courses that provide in-depth training in routers and networking. Among the various courses, the CCNA course (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is a certification program for entry-level network engineers. Through the course, we can get to learn all about routers and switches. It aims to enhance our networking knowledge. Now a days it is one of the best IT course, students are trained to install, configure and operate the routers and switches. 4
  • 5. 5 2. CCNA helps the students to build up a good idea relating to WAN / LAN connections. Various protocols including IP, IGP, EGP, VLAN, Ethernet, Serial, ACL, NAT etc. are also included in this certification course. 3. Future Job Roles: a) Network Specialist b) Network Administrator c) Network Support Engineer
  • 6. Objective This course provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform as a network administrator. The benefits of Certification are: 1.Certification provides a standard way of measuring technical skills. 2.Provide job opportunities. 3.Certification provides worldwide validation of our skills. 6

  • 11. Reference Model 11Fig.5 OSI Layers & TCP layers
  • 12. IP Addressing 1. If a device wants to communicate using TCP/IP. It needs an IP address. 2. IP addressing was designed to allow the host of one network to communicate with a host on other network. 3. IP addresses are further divided into to parts i.e. a) Network ID b) Host ID 4. Based on these two parts you can extract the information about the class of an IP address. 12
  • 13. IP Address Classes 13Fig.6 IP Classes and Private IP Range
  • 14. Routing 1. Routing is a process of selecting a path inside a network, along which to send network traffic. 2. The network device which is responsible for routing process is Router. 3. To route a router needs to do following things: a) Know the destination address. b) Discover the possible routes. c) Select the best route. d) Maintain and verify the routing information 14
  • 15. Routing Protocols 1. Routing Protocols are the software that allow routes to dynamically advertise and learn routes, determine which routes are available and which are the most efficient routes to a destination. 2. Usually two types of protocols are used in internetworks: a) Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP): These are used to exchange information in the same autonomous system(AS). 15
  • 16. 16 There are some IGP mentioned below: i.Routing Information Protocol (RIP) ii.Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) iii.Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) b)Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP): These are used to communicate between Autonomous systems(AS). EGP is commonly used between hosts on the Internet to exchange routing table information. example: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
  • 17. IGP And EGP 17Fig.7 Difference Between IGP and EGP
  • 18. Some Useful Concepts 1. ACL (Access Control List): This networking concept is very useful for security purpose, as this is used to keep a check on the unwanted hosts who wants to get access of your network or system. 2. NAT(Network Address Translator): the intention behind using NAT is to decrease the overwhelming amount of public IP address required in your networking environment, by allowing duplicate IP addresses in your network and whenever they try to access the outside network they just translate the duplicate IP into a valid IP. 18
  • 19. 19 3. VLAN (Virtual LAN): It is a networking concept which is used to divide a LAN virtually into different separate LAN. 4. VPN (Virtual Private Network): This networking technique is very important for security purpose, as it uses “tunnelling” in order to hide the intermediate routes between host and destination system, so that no one can trace the actual route of data transfer. 5. Wifi: it is a classical example of wireless networking. With this technology one can easily form a network without getting physically connected.

  • 24. Working Description A network topology is the pattern in which nodes (i.e., computers, printers, routers or other devices) are connected to a local area network (LAN) or other network via links. Basically, in this project we have used Local Area Network as well as Wide Area Network for networking configuration which we can command from a single place or the main server by using Telnet technique. 24
