Anees Jung is an Indian author, journalist, and columnist known for her 1987 work Unveiling India, which provided a detailed chronicle of women's lives in India with a focus on depicting Muslim women living behind the purdah. She was born in 1964 in Hyderabad to an aristocratic family, with her father serving as an adviser to the last Nizam of Hyderabad state. After schooling in Hyderabad and earning a Masters from the University of Michigan in sociology and American studies, her book Unveiling India brought attention to her for its depiction of women in India.
