Military symbols
Military symbols are used to represent units, weapons, equipment, activities, terrain and other elements on maps and plans. They use simple, clear and uniform designs that usually include a basic symbol, size indicator, role designator and other modifiers. Common symbols depict units, equipment, control measures like boundaries and objectives, and special functions like fire support, maneuver or combat service support. Proper military symbols provide an easily understood graphic representation of key information to coordinate forces.
