DePaul Treatment Centers Portland OR (2001-2005)
I provided addiction and dual diagnosis assessment and counseling in both outpatient and residential
programs, for English and Spanish-speaking adults. See http://depaultreatmentcenters.org/. Roles I
occupied included:
Residential Latino Men’s Program Counselor, developing and implementing culturally
sensitive psycho-educational curriculum for Spanish-speaking men in residential treatment in
collaboration with program director, Alex, Babani, PsyD. Collaborated with clinical staff to
increase awareness of cultural issues in residential treatment.
Alcohol and Drug Counselor, in which I received weekly clinical supervision from Peter
Barber, LPC, MAC while facilitating outpatient and residential chemical dependency groups
in English and Spanish, conducting assessments using American Society of Addiction
Medicine Placement Criteria (ASAM-PCR-2) and making treatment placement decisions. In
this capacity I also collaboratively developed treatment plans, translated documents,
interpreted for Spanish-speaking patients and their families, performed random on-site
supervision for toxicity screening, made thorough clinical charting and provided complex
case management. I also developed skills in providing appropriate information to private and
managed health insurance companies to assist with billing while protecting client privacy and
at times, performed conflict mediation and crisis interventions with residents.
Counselor in Training, during which I received clinical supervision from Cathy
Moonshine, PhD. And attended counseling workshops and trainings, led psycho-education
groups, performed random toxicity screening, clinical charting, case management, conflict
mediation and crisis intervention with clients and staff while earning my certification as a
drug and alcohol counselor (CADC) in Oregon.
Residential Treatment Assistant, maintaining the therapeutic environment and modeling
healthy communication strategies in a stages-of-change based, dual-diagnosis residential
program. I also assisted in and led psycho-education groups, coordinated with the clinical
team, supported client therapy goals through providing environmental and psycho-
educational supports in the residential milieu. In this role I also participated in daily case-
planning meetings, mediated and resolved conflict in residence hall, monitored and tracked
medication.
Nehalem Valley Psychological, Astoria OR (1999-2001)
I worked in a variety of roles within a private clinical practice, in both administrative and adjunctive
clinical services capacities. Roles I performed included:
Office Management, during which I transcribed dictations of psychological evaluations
and progress notes, screened new patients and provided referral information, tracked and
billed insurance, as well as restructured and maintained archival system for long-term
practice.
Prevention Counselor, in which I collaborated with Clatsop County Juvenile Department,
Rosemary Berdine, Psy.D and Jenny Coffey, M. Ed., in developing and co-facilitating skill-
development-focused didactic and process-oriented groups for adjudicated girls, ages 12-19.
I also participated in grant writing, resource allocation, and development of culturally
appropriate curriculum for the focus population.

Translation Services, in which I assisted the Clatsop County Juvenile Justice Department
with providing culturally sensitive translation services for adjudicated Latino youth and their
families as they engaged in discharge planning and diversion programming.
Health Prevention Volunteer in which I collaborated with the Clatsop County Health
Department to distribute banana and strawberry flavored condoms and educational
pamphlets on STD prevention to access points for teens and young adults along highway
101.
Portland State University, Portland OR (1997- 1999)
I worked as the program coordinator for the World Dance Office a student-run organization on the
PSU Campus, whose mission is to keep culturally diverse dance programming a part of the culture at
Portland State. In this role I performed
Grant Writing for funding planned programming to bring international artists to campus to
teach cultural dances.
Book Keeping, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the continuation of the
organization’s status on campus through documenting its ability to generate revenue through
its programming.
Program Planning of World Dance sponsored events and workshops, which involved
screening and hiring qualified instructors, developing roles for volunteers and managing
volunteer efforts, creating press releases and coordinating plans for classes, performances
and events.
Program Development, in which I developed and wrote an operations manual, expanded
programming, hired and trained new facilitators and contractors, planned co-sponsored
events with other student groups, and tracked workshop attendance/participant satisfaction.

During this consultation and peer supervision training, I ran a supervision group for bilingual
doctoral and master’s students practicing at the Iris Clinic. I also provided support to student
clinical staff by performing new client intake consultations and placement screenings. I had

In the Iris clinic, provided the range of community mental health services, including assessment,
