Professional Development Goals
The first thing that should be noted is that psych nursing is a recent academic option, which is highly relevant that more people are trained in it and help to broaden and deepen the scientific foundation of the care it offers. Although the psych nurses are already able to carry out different activities without the need for another health professional to indicate them, it is important that they can acquire greater independence so that their contribution is even greater, which is my first professional development goal. Therefore, the degree in psych nursing must be strengthened, with studies and evidence that allow the framework of the work of those who practice it to grow and, in turn, encourage its professionals to intervene promptly to avoid complicating the medical situation of a patient.
I would like to be supportive, have a vocation for service, be responsible, and be organized. It is these basic qualities that will allow me to develop a nursing career. The organization and responsibility would be oriented there because the nurse, by nat.
CRIS LUTHER's ADVANCED HEALTH ASSESSMENT IN PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSINGcrisluther
The course title is: Advanced Health Assessment in Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing. Nurses in all specialties practice assessment as the first step in the universal approach of problem-solving in nursing, the nursing process. The application of which in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing has the same goal as it has in other areas of nursing.
Though, the goal of the nursing process in this specialty field is not different as mentioned, the process of assessment is composed of complex concepts the psychiatric mental health nurse must familiarize- theoretically and clinically. This posted a main challenge in the completion of this material.
The student performed repeated accession and elimination of concepts to finalize the contents which are deemed significant and consistent with the course title: Advanced Health Assessment in Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing.
________________________________________
The text is organized in four parts presenting various approaches in psychiatric assessment. The focus remained on the basic principles of nursing assessment:
Part 1: Assessment of Psychiatric Mental Health Clients, discusses the basic principles of nursing assessment; the topic progresses to assessment procedures specific to the specialty field (M.S.E.), an example was presented to clearly understand its congruence to practice. Related terminologies and discussion of comorbid problems are important tools in identifying actual and potential health problems during client assessment.
Part 2: The DSM-IV-TR, An Essential Tool for Assessment and Diagnosis of Psychiatric-Mental Health Clients, presents vital components of this universal tool in diagnosing mental illnesses.
Part 3: Assessment Factors in Dual Diagnosis, addresses the need to thoroughly assess other equally significant problems that co-exist with the diagnosed primary mental illness. The co-existence of substance abuse is the commonest in dual diagnosis.
Part 4: Formulation of Assessment-based Care Plan. The nursing process has been referred to as an ongoing systematic series of actions, interactions and transactions. Hence, the inclusion of the entire process is a must to fully appreciate the essentiality of an assessment that is done in congruence with standards.

Dr. Ameri and class,
After reflecting over the course of Advanced Clinical Diagnosis and Practice Across the Lifespan, the student identified achievements of the course outcomes. This course had a few specific areas that the student reflected on that assisted her in preparing for the Master of Science program outcome #4, the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Essential IV, and the Nurse Practitioner Core Competency #7.
The professional outcome #4 is to “Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.” This outcome was achieved by taking the week 4 APEA predictor exam. As the student studied for the exam, she identified several areas of improvement. By reviewing a wide knowledge base of concepts seen in the primary care setting the student was to identify her areas of strengths and weaknesses. The test was broken down into categories and assisted the student to find her professional identity. Another way the student found her professional identity was through clinicals. The preceptor pushed autonomy and let the student formulate the treatment plan while she would offer suggestions and advice. The student realized that in a few short months that she would be in practice with varying levels of guidance depending on job location. The student identified her professional identity in the clinic which will aide her in her next rotation and future practice.
The MSN Essential IV is “Translating and integrating scholarship into practice recognize that the master’s prepared nurse applies research outcomes within the practice setting, resolves practice problems, works as a change agent, and disseminates results.” Over the course, the student achieved the MSN Essential IV by discussion in week 6 mental health presentation and in the clinical setting. The student is accustomed to seeing a lot of mental health patients but sometimes has difficulty categorizing the present illness. The week 6 presentation allowed each student to formulate a patient scenario with a diagnosis provided by the instructor. The student saw how mental illness was related, but also how it differed form patient to patient. This assignment assisted the student in identifying patient’s chief complaints, differentiate from different ailments, educate and act as a change agent, and evaluate results over time. In the clinical setting, the student was able to educate teens about IUDs. The NP she followed at the FQHC would insert IUDs that lasted for 5 years for $20. Many teenage girls would come to the clinic and admit to being sexually active without the use of protection or teenagers that already had a few kids would come in asking for birth control options. The student felt as if she was able to minimize teenage pregnancy or unwanted pregnancies by providing patients with the appropriate knowledge and offer an affordable pregnancy prevention method.
The Nurse Practitioner Core Competency #7 is geared towards Health Delivery System Competen ...

Editor's Notes
I have learned from this class and all the others that Psychology can be enjoyable if you focus and study hard. I gained a lot of experience from working closely with the clients on the unit and incorporating the information from the classroom discussions. When reviewing my strengths overall during the course of my life, I have achieved many of my goals and have made significant impact on many lives as a nurse. I am eager to learn and find that learning is a life long process. I consider myself fortunate to be able to process thoughts effectively and apply to daily situations. When reviewing my weakness I strive for perfection and no one is perfect. I also could have achieved further education from formal schooling early on but put it off for so many years. I am grateful to achieve my Psychology degree now and continue to pursue education through life circumstances.
I believe this effectively meets the outlined criteria and overall a good job. The paper indicates an understanding of a given topic from multiple perspectives and the ability to define and discuss the complexities in a given issue.
The paper also demonstrates to collect and arrange information from a variety of sources pertinent to the chosen topic, integrating reasoned appraisals of such information into the work of a project in psychology. The grammatical structuring and statement of purpose was good and earned an A-.
The paper demonstrates the Processes of significant ability in creating, organizing and delivering oral presentations. The paper exhibits the ability to identify, select, and apply basic/general levels of organization and clarity of presentation. The paper expresses the ability to recognize higher levels of organization and clarity, exhibits the ability to identify, and select. The paper does not show an application with variant levels of presentation for specific audience. Overall, the assignment was sound and earned the A given.
The paper demonstrates an understanding and is able to recognize or describe the existence of diversity issues in the field of psychology. Overall, I would say the assignment was sound and deserve at least a B.
The paper scaled over the various theories and could have been sounder in the focus of the session. The paper demonstrates the ability to recognize and comprehend the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings. The paper demonstrates and understanding but lacks the application to the entire therapy session and deserves the B given.
The paper notes occasional application of psychological principles in everyday decision-making and interactions with others, in the news, and in organizations.
The paper lacks demonstration of awareness of the importance of effective nonverbal communication skills in developing strong interpersonal and organizational relationships that are culturally sensitive and respectful of diversity. The paper demonstrates openness to feedback to develop adaptable strategies of facilitating dynamic interpersonal and organizational relationships
This is a representation of my current work which includes my understanding of critical thinking including my cognitive abilities, research, effective communication, ability to apply the therapeutic process…..etc
When talking about a life learner, this individual continually prepares for the unknown in future living. Our entire life is learning, therefore education can have no endings and the pursuit of knowledge over the course of a lifetime. The learning does not need a formalized setting, as in taking classes for the rest of ones’ but rather, it is just pushing to learn, grow and experience new things. This learning can occur throughout life through reading, travel, and an eagerness that one keeps through life. I started out as most with elementary school, working odd end jobs as an adolescent, and the pursuit of a career.
