OBJECTIVE
To obtain a position in which I would be able to provide exceptional help utilizing my diverse
background in Psychology, my bilingual and interpersonal skills as well as my previous experience
as an Interpreter-Translator and as a Licensed Psychologist in Cuba and in Seychelles Islands, and

Substance Abuse Counselor (2013 to 2015)
Job Summary: Provides individual, group and family counseling to patients are required.
Counselor works with multidisciplinary team consisting of Medical Director, Program Director,
Treatment Plan Coordinator, Counselors and Nursing to ensure the overall safety and wellbeing
of patients.
Essential functions: works with patients to complete all intake, admission, and discharge and
aftercare paperwork. Counselor documents patient progress through counseling and interaction
through groups.
Complete patient psychosocial and individualized treatment plan within required specific
timeframe, and performs individual, group and family counseling as required.
Performs at least 20 hours of direct one on one patient contact per week through individual or
group counseling, educates patients in all aspects of treatment, health issues and steps to
recovery.
Ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 and 45 CFR HIPAA.
I also provided my skills in translations and interpretation with the Hispanic population.
Behavioral Specialist / Counselor (Independent Contractor) 2009 -2013

Responsibilities: Providing behavioral intervention services/counseling, education and training to
individuals, siblings and family in their home, using a Cognitive Behavioral Approach, keeping
and maintaining meticulous records relating to services rendered in a thorough manner,
implementing the tools for positive behavior change with clients, coordinating other services
available, developing individualized PST Goal Attainment Scale, progress notes, closing
summaries, measurable objectives, PST closing data, closing reason, follow up discharge plan,
referrals.
I also provide my skills in translation and interpretation.

Responsibilities: Maintaining a case load of approximately 23 clients, developing
individualized treatment plans based on 65D-30 time frames, testing clients, providing one-on one
and group counseling, educational groups, doing treatment plan reviews based on 65D-30 time
frames, also facilitated Aftercare group counseling, intakes, progress notes, discharges.
Bilingual Mental Health Counselor Spanish/English

Position Summary: Responsible for the delivery of individual and group and family
counseling services and completion of documentation required for the clinical record including but
not limited to development of the individual treatment/Services Plan (ITP/ISP), psychosocial
assessment, daily notes and weekly or monthly reviews, worked also with substance abuse, co-
occurring disorders and with LGBT clients and HIV clients. Counselors will attend
interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, monitor treatment throughout the clients care, and
establish parameters for discharge planning. Counselors are responsible for crisis intervention and
de-escalation of situations to ensure safety to all, also testing clients when necessary and
providing educational groups. This includes assessment of crisis situations to determine severity
and making recommendations to peers to insure consistency and appropriateness of staff
responses to issues. Counselors will develop and approved curriculum as the basis for group and
individual counseling.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE/BILINGUAL COUNSELOR SPANISH/ENGLISH

Responsibilities included: maintaining a case load of 40-45 clients, case management,
developing individualized treatment plans based on 65D-30 time frames, doing treatment plan
reviews based on 65D-30 time frames, maintain compliance with documentation per 65D-30,
JCAHO, Medicaid, and PAR policy and procedure, facilitated didactic groups, relapse prevention
groups, developed and facilitate a women’s group, documentation according to DAP format,
individual counseling, completing 20 hours of continuing education each year: HIV/AIDS, DAP
progress notes, clinical documentation, professional boundaries, club drugs, HIAA, ethics, CPR,
verbal de-escalation, creative therapy, co-occurring disorders, suicide/signs and symptoms,
healing addictions/dry drunk syndrome, provided my skills in translation and interpretation.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST (Licensed)

Responsibilities: provided psychotherapy to children/adolescents/adults, supervision, and
outreach, also conducting trainings in Psychology for the doctors specializing on “Family’s

Rehabilitation Center of Mahe, Seychelles Islands, Clinical Psychologist, was an International
Collaboration program, I worked at the Center doing psychological evaluations, assessments, 1:1
psychotherapy, developed and facilitated a group using art with the patients, got referrals from different
parts of the country.
