Counselor
San Miguel Medical Clinic, Los Angeles, CA February 2010 to March 2015
Under the supervision of the clinic director, worked as a Psychosocial Educator and Counselor
with children, adults, families, and seniors, and as a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program
(CPSP) Counselor for four clinics and four different programs with over 4,500 patients/clients.
Provided diagnostic assessment, psychological counseling, and individual/group treatment
plans, referring to other resources as necessary.
As a board member of their Foundation, planned weekly seminar series for the community,
recruiting faculty, being interviewed on live radio for topic synopses two days a week, hosting
the seminar series to enlighten the community resulting in hundreds of attendees, reaching 40%
of the entire clinic’s patient base, and joining the instructor for post-lecture Q&A's.
Educated clients and community members on topics such as emotional health, mental/physical
illness, medication, chemical dependency, addictions, career counseling, parenting, and
available community resources; counseled families to assist them in understanding and coping
with different issues. Teaching was done in weekly lectures, workshops, classes, and group
meetings, and in daily individual or couple sessions.
