Evaluation
For my final piece idea I chose to do a short film. I could have chosen either, photography, music
video or a short film. The reason I wanted to do a short film was, because I enjoy creating films and I
have made a few short films before. I started off my project by doing a brainstorm of ideas on a
program called “Inspiration”; this allowed me to record all my ideas onto one document. As well as
recording all of my ideas, I took note of all the equipment that I will/want to use. After I had done
my mind map on Inspiration I moved onto to doing my production schedule, I used a program called
Microsoft PowerPoint. I used this program because it is easy to setup a table, and it was easier to
import the data that I wanted to write down. After I did my production schedule I started to create a
script on an online feature called “Adobe Story”, I used this because it was recommended to me by a
friend. In the script I included speech, stage directions and narrations, because then I could print off
multiple copies for me and actors. Therefore it will be easier to direct the film because the actors
would know what to do. Finally, before the filming I created a proposal all about my film describing
what genre I chose, what the target audience is, the film name, the style of it, the content and the
length of it.
Final Project Evaluation
I think that my film went quite well, the interrogation scene went the best because we worked well
as a team and they could follow my instructions on how I wanted the scene to go. Also, the flashback
scene didn’t take much time at all as once again my team listened to me and I listened to them as
they did pointers and ways to help me improve the scene. However, I think that I started the filming
a little bit late as I had to change some of the scenes. When I changed some of the scenes I think that
the outcome was not always better that I planned for the original scenes to be. Also, I had to redo a
scene as the outcome did not go to plan as some of the team just messed around and we did not get
all the clips. Unfortunately, the next time we tried to film the same scene one of the actors was ill so
I had to get someone else.
During my interrogation scene I had
to do some sort of editing to it as
people might not have been easy to
tell when the flashback was
beginning and when it was ending.
To do this I had to select the clip that
I wanted to edit and go to “Effect
Controls” the drop down the arrow
for “Brightness and Contrast” then I
edited the contrast from “0.0” to
“50.0”. I did this because I think that
it makes it easier to notice where
and when the flashback happens.

I am happy with my project because I have always enjoyed helping to make films and filming, but
creating my own is really fun. However, I think that there are room for improvements such as; add a
little more special effects to some of the scenes, also, I think that I could have started filming earlier
which would have allowed me to do a lot more with editing it. I think it does meet my target
audience as my fellow peers understood the meaning and what was going on during my film. Also,
they understood when flashback was happening and why it was happening. My idea was an original
idea as I thought and planned it all by myself. My fellow peers gave pointers on where I could
improve but they didn’t change the overall idea. I did change a few scenes because I left filming a bit
late so therefore I had to change the scenes and the order of what scenes went in. Even though I
changed the order of the scenes it still made sense.
If I did this project again I would make sure if did all my pre post production quickly so it is done and
out of the way. Doing my pre post production earlier and quicker will allow me to have more time
for filming and most importantly more time to edit. During this project I have learnt more skills on
Adobe Premiere Pro, more on what camera angle are needed and where. Also, I have learnt a lot
more about cameras and how to use them.
