Objective:
The objective is to find employment as a Senior Instrument and Controls Technician workingin the field,or the
office, to accommodate the needs of the company. Trained and certified in the Chemical Demilitarization,
Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Power Generation fields.
Experience:
_ Maintained and repaired equipment on BWR and PWR power plantequipment, with a primary emphasis on
instrument calibrationsincludingrunningsurveillancetesting,loop checks, PID controller setups. AOV diagnostic
testing performed on process control valves.Selected setup and operated electronic instrumentation,related
electro mechanical and electro hydraulic apparatus used for TurbineGenerator and Power Plantoperations.
Installed,calibrated and checked sensing,and recording,instrumentation and circuitry.Responsibilities included
performing maintenance calibrationsand repair on nuclear instrumentation and rod controls.Calibrated reactor
pressure,level, flow, temperature and radiation sensingequipment needed to insuresafeplantoperations.
Replaced defective equipment and restored system operability.
_ Assisted subordinates and supervisorsin identifyingand resolvingproblems related to plantstartups.Designed
and produced electrical schematics usingAutoCAD, BOM's, Spec. Sheets, pre-job checklists,and wrote calibration
procedures. Maintenance and startups were performed on ABB, General Electric,and Westinghouse steam
turbines,Nooter-Eriksen HRSG, Siemens and GE Frame 7 gas turbines.Translated test data for engineering
personnel to formulate engineering designs and evaluate decisions.Selected, installed,calibrated and checked
sensing,and recordinginstrumentation and circuitry.Performed maintenance activities on heatrecovery steam
generators, auxiliary steamboilers,water treatment systems, GE gas turbines,PLC's, DCS, and boiler control valves
and instruments.
_ Responsibilities included reviewingand revisingplantprocedures,planningand schedulingmaintenance
activities.Fabricated and installed plantmodifications.4 years of project experience with a leadership and
supervision role.Performed control reviews on plantmodifications.Replaced and repaired defective equipment,
and restored system operability to Fossil and Nuclear power systems, high pressureboilers,reactors and their
supportsystems. Maintained 4KV, 480V and 120Velectrical circuits,logic circuits AC and DC, diesel generators,
station batteries, UPS power supplies,motor controls,motor and air operated valves,neutron, gas, radiation,pH,
conductivity monitors,and all forms of temperature, pressure, flow, level instrumentation and many forms of
SMART transmitters usingHART or similar protocols.Understandingof the operation of GE electro hydraulic
control,and basic power plantoperation was obtained through classroomtraining.
_ Assisted CorningInc.engineers in installation,startup,and debug of consolidation equipmentin their
Wilmington facility.Responsibilities included developingwiringdiagrams,layoutdrawings of instrumentcontrol
loops and electrical drawingsand engineeringspecificationsfor systems and equipment modificationswhile
maintaininghigh standardsof excellence.Engineered safety controls for motion systems. Supervised electrical
installationsof equipment and assisted CorningInc.engineers in designingprocess equipment for their Concord
and Sullivan Park fiber optic plants.Equipment was specified for installation in the process loop.Usingequipment
manuals and interconnection schematics was instrumental in assistingin switch over to Giddings & Lewis motion
control equipment. Responsiblefor daily supervision of electrical trades performingconstruction in fiber optic
glass blank manufacturingand drawequipment. Familiarity obtained with Giddi ngs & Lewis and Computrol motion
control systems.
_ Assisted Bechtel Engineering in completing engineering design for the Watts Bar Nuclear PlantUnit 2 completion
project as a Control Systems Design Engineer. Daily duties involved verifying,specifyingand designingof
instrumentation projects, reviewing ASME code related work and performing 50.59 screening reviews. Skills
2. involved use of AutoCAD, Microstation,Excel,Outlook, and Word programs for preparingdesign packages for
construction of the facility.
_ Performed plantstartups,procedure revisions,installations, maintenance,calibrations,AutoCAD and
Microstation drawingmaintenance,control panel layouts,wiringinterconnection drawings,instrumentand
electrical specifications,P&ID's,and engineeringduties at Chemical,Nuclear Power, Co-generation, Fossil,
Pharmaceutical,PreciousMetals,Fiber Optics plants,and a Chemical Demilitarization facility.The primary
emphasis on instrument calibrations,startup and troubleshooting,valvemaintenance a nd high voltage electrical
startups, relay testing, debug and repair.Calibrations wereperformed on cGMP equipment in pharmaceutical
facilities.Installed selected,setup and operated electronic and pneumatic instrumentation,related
electromechanical and electro hydraulic apparatus used for control of diesel generators, turbines, support
systems, and power plants.Experiences includeBailey Infi-90,WestinghouseEagle,Honeywell, Siemens Teleperm
DCS systems, Allen-Bradley PLC-5 and SLC100, Modicon, Siemens PLC controls,and many kinds of motor operated,
solenoid and pneumatic valves.INPO certified I&C/Electrical technician.
