2. FILMING
Filming was especially difficult because most of my actors had to
cancel for various reasons. This was difficult because they all
cancelled at very short notice. This also meant my contingency
plan would also not work. So I had to improvise, I had to be in the
music video rather than the actors I had planned. I still had one
actress but the voice on the song is male and I didnât want it to
look out of place, this is why they filmed and I was in the music
video. This did work out well however because I knew exactly
what I wanted from the actors so I could deliver a convincing
performance.
3. EDITING
In this screenshot I
am using something
called Luma Curve.
This changes the
exposure and
ensures that the
video is not too
bright or dark. This
makes colour
grading significantly
easier.
4. EDITING â
FILE MANAGEMENT
This is the folder all of my footage is
stored in. It has the date on it so there
is no confusion.
This is all of the
footage that I
have shot.
5. EDITING â
SETTING UP PREMIERE
I opened premier and create a new project that I called âmusic videoâ.
This box came up and I chose DV in capture formula and also chose the
desktop to save my project for the time being then I placed in onto my
memory stick, then pressed ok, this then lead to other box where I chose
Digital SLR- 720p-DSLR 720p24. I chose these options because I filmed
from a Digital SLR and because I filmed my music video in 720p this
means the layout will make made to fit my music video. After all the
options are done right a blank layout if formed for me to start importing
my footage and begin to edit it.
6. EDITING âIMPORTING FOOTAGE
In premiere to start off my file set up was very basic with only two
folders. The audio and the music video one. I only had these two
because thatâs all I needed I didn'tât need the footage I wasnât
using. It was easy to have a simple file set up so I didn'tât get
confused with different files and unable to find them.
I opened up premiere and minimized it so I could drag the folders
into the set up. I just clicked on onto the folder dragging it into the
blank square at the bottom and and box comes ups straight away.
In the box that comes up it asks you if you want to import entire
project and selected sequences. I chose to download the whole
project because I needed all the footage there so I could use it and
edit it.
A little bar comes up saying âimporting filesâ, the bar will get full
when all the files of imported. After this has disappeared then
files will be on the file set up down below for you to use.
7. EDITING âWORKSPACE
Show and describe the Premiere Pro workspace â preview window,
bins, timeline, playback window, tool bar, audio levels, etc
When you open up premiere this is what appears, a blank canvas with
nothing on yet until you start adding your files and start to edit your
video.
When you do import your footage you can start dragging into the
timeline. On the time line There is bar telling you the time your video is
this helps you measure how long you want your shots to be. Also
there is a video bar and a audio bar. You place your music onto the
audio and your footage above. There are many video and audio bars
this is incase you want to add multiply videos at once or combine
video and add effect.
In the top right hand corner you also have another box this box allow
you see to see the video so far you have edited/created.
There is also a audio levels option to allow you to control the audio I
different parts of the video or for the full video is you want to make it
louder and quieter.
8. EDITING â
ASSEMBLY EDIT
For this clips of me lip singing I have to trim it down perfectly to
make sure the lip singing match. For this I click the bracket tool to
start the trimming or the opposite bracket tool to end the trim to
give me the clip I want. I would then click the film icon to just drag
the video with no audio.
After this I can drag the clip that looks like a little blue rectangle
onto the timeline and place it at the right time of the song.
9. EDITING â
COLOUR CORRECTION/SFX
After putting my sequence together I started to edit the individual shots and colour
correct them. For this I would go to effects in the bottom left corner and click effect-
video effects- color correction- three-way color corrector. Appears 3 circles to change
my video. These circle are for different parts of the video to help brighten or change
colour in different places within the clip. I change the background of the clip to a
warm orange to make it look more sunny as it was quite blue compared to my other
10. EDITING â EXPORT
Exporting my music video- To export this correctly I went to
file-Export-Media. This then brought up a box of setting I
change the format to H.264 and then change the preset to
YouTube HD 720p 25, most people put it in YouTube HD
1080p 25 but I filmed my music video In 720p so I had to
make sure I exported it correctly. to save it to my memory
stick I click the output name a chose my memory stick and
changed the name of the project to Music video to make
sure I could find it clear and know what it was.
