Professional Profile:
ASQ Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with over 25 years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS),
New Product Development, Supplier Quality, Problem Solving and Process Improvement.
Proven Results having Saved Companies Millions of Dollars by reducing the Total Cost of Quality via Scrap
Reduction, Improved Test Yields and Improving Efficiency through Lean Manufacturing.
Project Management Professional (PMP) with Strong Leadership and a Motivational Management style with a
Reputation for Building and Retaining a Highly Motivated Team.
Professional Experience and Accomplishments:
New Product Development:
As the Project Launch Manager for New Product Introduction – Successfully managed the transition of a new common
Cryptographic circuit board from engineering into manufacturing in a compressed schedule due to obsolescence.
Ensured the success of New Product Introduction through the use of PFMEA, Control Plans, Design for Six Sigma, and driving CTQ,
DFM and DFT processes working closely with electrical and mechanical design engineers.
Managed the contract review process, which ensures that the government prime contract quality requirements are met and
flowed down to subcontractors as required.
Reviewed and signed off on all new engineering drawings for proper GD&T tolerances and CTQ dimensions, participated in
design reviews, and worked with engineering on critical parts and early supplier involvement.
Led the test equipment validation team for the transition of manufacturing from one building to another across town. Developed
a Minitab macro and test correlation process to reduce the risk at start up. Earned a bonus for this effort.
Wrote several First Article Test Plans - Reports, and Safety Assessment Reports for Military contracts.
Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Engineering, Continuous Process Improvement:
Performed statistical qualitative and quantitative analysis on product test results, drove resolution to quality issues, performed
design of experiments, and calculated rolled first pass yields for new products.
Developed Minitab macros that pull data from test databases and calculates Cpk for hundreds of electrical tests and then plots
the associated histograms within minutes. Received the New Technology Award for this effort.
Led 6-Sigma teams using the DMAIC process that reduced Rx Sensitivity defects, HASS process development, Defective Material
process improvement, and First Piece Inspection process introduction. Annual company savings estimated at $ 500K annually.
Used Shainin Engineering problem solving techniques including multi-vari analysis, B vs. C, and iso-plots to solve quality issues
including a ten year old problem that saves the company an estimated $300,000 in scrap batteries per year. Received Incentive
Stock Options for this effort.
Performed several Designed Experiments (DOE) including three to optimize ultrasonic welding processes for welding three
different plastic parts.
Supplier Quality Engineering:
Prepared and presented Supplier Quality Metrics in Quality Management Reviews for Government customers.
Disposition non-conforming material, drove root cause and corrective actions, and performed First Article Inspections.
Prepared receiving inspection plans that ensure the incoming quality of parts vi a sampling methods per ANSI Z1.4 and Z1.9,
specify tools and techniques of measurement and inspection including GD&T measurement.
Managed the supplier quality of all mechanical and electrical components , circuit boards and assemblies.
Performed Quality Management Systems and Process Audits on mechanical and electronic suppliers, evaluated process
capabilities, and implemented improvements such as SPC and internal corrective action systems.
Developed and implemented a Supplier Certification Program that helped reduce supplier responsible rejects from 20,000 to
1,000 PPM. Performed on site audits of suppliers and drove process improvement.

Created a standard corrective action process that dramatically improved the quality of corrective action responses.
Pioneered the Test Correlation Program for electronic circuit card assemblies purchased from outside suppliers.
Initiated and led two Multifunctional Teams that successfully improved the flow down of Engineering Change Notices, and
developed the process for the flow down of programmable software/firmware for microcircuits.
Reviewed and approved material requisitions for supplied product.
Quality Systems Management :
Managed the quality department, including configuration management, for a 25 million dollar a year business that
manufactures power supplies and detectors for both commercial and military applications.
Managed the transition of the business from MA to NY that included Re-qualification of every process and product with Military
and FDA customers. Wrote First Article Test plans and managed the execution of those plans.
Set yearly quality goals for the company and drove them to completion. These included 10% yearly reduction of warranty returns,
improved on time delivery to 95%, and improved on-time phase dates for new product development.
Primary interface for all customer quality communication including product returns, customer audits and monthly metrics.
Presented quality metrics and corrective action plans customers with multi-million dollar accounts.
Managed and scheduled daily activities of Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection, Internal Auditing, and Calibration for u p to
20 direct reports.
Performed internal audits to maintain a certified ISO-9001/AS9100 Quality Management System.
Implemented an MRB process; trained and implemented 5-S; trained management in the basics of six sigma; and helped drive
remakes down to their lowest level by solving process problems.
Led a team that helped achieved ISO 9000 registration in just six months. Received a Recognition Award
Project Manager of the Record Retention System at the GE Material Acquisition Center. Set up a military compliant, cost effec tive
system to store and retrieve microfilmed documents.
Constructed an online Key Business Indicator Dashboard that measures all of the business goals including Cost of Poor Quality,
On-Time-Delivery, Manufacturing Efficiency, First Pass Test Yields and Supplier PPM Rates.
