Seminar on UWB(Ultra Wide Band)Radar system for Human being detection.Mainly for the advanced technologies Radar systems are developed. In 1940 American government has developed Radar for military purpose, and then the inventions in different field has emerged in respective aspects.Radars are use in many areas and its application is very large extent.
3. Introduction
• Ultra-wideband radars are used now a days for different applications such as
subsurface sensing, classification of aircrafts, collision avoidance etc. In all of
these applications the ultra-high resolution of UWB radars is essentially used.
• Detection of human beings with radars is based on movement detection. Heart
beating and respiratory motions cause changes in frequency, phase, amplitude
and arrival time of reflected from a human being electromagnetic wave.
4. Classification
• Based on the features like frequency, phase, arrival time different radar systems
have been developed:
• 1) Narrow Band Systems: Doppler Radar, interferometric radars.
• 2) Ultra Wide Band Systems(UWB): video impulse radars
5. DESCRIPTION OF THE RADAR
• The radar consists of :
• pulse generator
• pulse shaper
• sampler unit
• sampling oscilloscope and
• control Pc.
6. DESCRIPTION OF THE RADAR
• A Pulse generator is either an electonic circuit or a piece of electronic test
equipment used to generate rectangular pulses.
• Pulse generators usually allow control of the pulse repetition rate
(frequency)pulse width, delay with respect to an internal or external
trigger and the high and low-voltage levels of the pulses.
• Pulse shaping is the process of changing the waveform of transmitted
pulses. Its purpose is to make the transmitted signal better suited to its
purpose, typically by limiting the effective bandwidth of the transmission.
By filtering the transmitted pulses this way, the intersymbol
interference caused by the channel can be kept in control.
7. DESCRIPTION OF THE RADAR
• The sampling oscilloscope is a special type of digital sampling
oscilloscope which is used to examine a very fast signal.
8. PRINCIPLE OF RADAR
A radar system transmits electromagnetic energy and analyzes the
energy reflected back to it (by an object).
This returned energy is called an ECHO.
9. WORKING OF RADAR
• The Radar signal mainly depend on three features:
1) The system bandwidth equals to1l.7GHz (at -lOdB level). The
operational bandwidth (as determined at -lOdB level) of the radar starts
from 0.9 GHz.
2) For the radar for human being detection the second important
design issue is choice of the pulse repetition frequency.
3) Time stability is third important parameter of the system. The
detection can be done based on a series of signals recorded within a
short period of time
11. Advantages
• Large Channel Capacity
• Ability to Work with Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios
• Resistance to Jamming
• High Performance in Multipath Channels
• Low Transmitt power
• The pulse duration is very small that it has a very high resolution.
• High Security
