A famous diagram is the Mindmap, a visual
map with branches. It conveys information in a
specific way: categorization.
Visual diagrams as such are not new. They are
around for centuries, dating back to Porphyry
of Tyros, a philosopher who visualized the
categories of Aristotle (see illustration).
