• What is Distributed Arbitration?
• Why Distributed Arbitration is most reliable bus
arbitration system?
• How is a device selected in distributed arbitration?
• Explain the Distributed Arbitration Diagram?
• Conclusion
• Advantage and Disadvantage of Distributed Arbitration.
5. What is Distributed Arbitration?
When one or more devices request control of the bus, they assert the start arbitration
signal and place their 4-bit identification numbers on arbitration lines through ARB3.
In distributed arbitration, all devices participate in the
selection of the next bus master. In this scheme each
device on the bus is assigned a4-bit identification
number.
6. Why Distributed Arbitration is most
reliable bus arbitration system?
Distributed Arbitration Each device compares the code and changes its
bit position accordingly. It does so by placing a 0 at the input of their
drive. The distributed arbitration is highly reliable because the bus
operations are not dependent on devices.
7. HOW IS A DEVICE SELECTED IN DISTRIBUTED
ARBITRATION?
By
NANDing
the signals
passed on all
the 4 lines
By
ORing the
signals
passed on all
the 4 lines
By
ANDing
the signals

the 4 lines
None of the
mentioned
8. Advantage and Disadvantage of
Distributed Arbitration.
The Distributed Arbitration is
highly arbitration reliable
because the less operations
are not dependent on devices.
Distributed
Arbitration
It is less secure than
centralized arbitration as data
is distributed across several
devices.
Only one device can access
the bus or only one device
can be a bus master at a time.
As it is not centralize, even if
one or two computer goes
down, the entire system does
not crash.
10. Conclusion
As a conclusion, buses are actually
helpful as its act as a vital medium in
order to transferring data. Therefore,
bus arbitration also important. I think
distributed Bus arbitration is better
between centralized bus arbitration.
Although it has some drawbacks. But
the distributed arbitration is highly
reliable because the bus operations
are not dependent on devices.
