1. Matilda Rehearsal including response to Peer (teacher) Observation
Our target for this rehearsal was to finish our Matilda dance piece so that for the next
rehearsal, we could focus on clearing up the weaker parts to ensure it all looks clean
and precise. We wanted to make sure that everybody's ideas were incorporated and
that we remained fitting the theme and context of the piece.
The smart target that I focused on for the
rehearsal was concentration. This is because in
my teacher observation, it said that I have
“Excellent focus throughout the workshop and
confident attitude towards the work. However,
when performed sometimes gets the giggles when
something goes wrong rather than remaining
focussed”. So, in this rehearsal I tried to keep my
focus so that we could get things done.
In this rehearsal, we worked with the
choreographer, and focused on putting together the main chorus for the dance. It
was important that I made sure I was picking it up as we went along, because I do
not want to be the one performer who is behind, just because dancing is not
something that I specialise in.
Something I feel that I have a strong sense of is musicality. I am able to listen to a
song and understand the right beats, timing and pace of a song. This was Good to
be used in this rehearsal as the choreographer wanted it to all piece well with the
music and that the moves and poses that we did were going to be on the right beat. I
was making sure that I could how long we had to do each part of the dance when it
was necessary. For example, in one part of our dance we get into a line and do
appose. There were more people than there were beats, so to overcome this I
suggested that we would split it so that half went in the normal beat, and the other
went on the offbeat.
Although dancing is not my speciality, I wanted to make sure that I was taking part in
this rehearsal and voicing any opinions that I had. Any moves that did not look Good,
we managed to come to an agreement and change them. As well as this I suggested
to make the piece run smoother, we had the performers that specialise in dance take
more of the centre stage and receive more difficult choreography, and then everyone
else come up with something else so that we are still apart of this moment in the
dance. This worked as we were then able to have time to move the set for the future
part of the dance, while entertainment was still going on at the front.
Something that I was Good at during this rehearsal is my spacing. I understood
where I was meant to be positioned, but also took into consideration where everyone
else was meant to be so that everyone was equally seen by the audience, and I was
not blocking anyone. It is Important when dancing to make sure you have enough
room between yourself and someone else because it can be dangerous if you are
too close as you don’ not want to hit or kick them because they cannot get injured.
So, I think I was Good at my spatial awareness and positioning as I achieved this.
2. I think that I met my target in this rehearsal as we managed to get a lot done and I
was very focused throughout. I realised that this is helpful to be doing and keeping
onto of my concentration, so I will apply this to future rehearsals.
In this picture you can see that I am I have enough
space around me so that I can do the dance moves given without obstructing
anyone.
In this part of the dance, I made sure that I was with
minimal people because it was an opportunity where I could have been messing
around and not focusing, so I went to the back and carried out my poses there.
