2. The central process unit (CPU) is pretty much the
brain of the computer it process and controls
everything that the computer does.
This is the boss of the computer and tells other
computer components what to do. This is the
most likely component to get over heated hence
the fan above it.
3. The hard-drive is used to store all the data and everything
to, like applications on your computer will be saved to it. So
everything you have previously saved you will find here,
Hard-Drive’s come in all different sizes from 1gb to 1 tb
terabyte being the biggest. The Hard-Drive can also be split
into 4 primary partitions.
4. The motherboard is the
most important of them
all! It’s a plate with all
the components on, it
works as a circuit board
and makes sure
everything is working.
5. The graphics card is a
card placed within the
processer box that
gives the computer
graphics and images,
without the graphics
card you wouldn’t be
able to play games or
watch movies. They
are controlled by the
IDE controller.
6. An optical drive is a
disc drive that uses
electromagnetic
waves or light beams
to read a disc
without this you
would not be able to
watch films and
DVD’s.
They are connected
together by a IDE
cable
7. The fans are used to cool
down the components in
the computer, so they
don’t overheat and
break. The CPU is what
gives off most heat
that’s why the fan is
placed on top of the
CPU. It also draws cold
air in, to give the base
unit a better circulation.
8. RAM stands for Random access memory it is memory
for the computer. The RAM is used to store
applications and work to.
Ram sits on the motherboard, there is 3 separate slots
for the RAM and you can add more or less to the
computer.
9. The USB stands for Universal serial bus it is a
port built into the computer or laptop you use
these ports to attach output and input devices
such as: USB stick, mouse, keyboard, printer
etc etc…
