Observation is a professional Development tool for every school.
Formal observationreferstothe precise highly controlled methods that take place in a laboratory
setting.Have to create a formal lesson on the topic of our choice and write a formal lesson
plan.Formal observation occur when the teacher has preplanned an assessment with specific
learning targets in mind.
Informal observation is more casual observation to the surrounding environment.Informal
observations are quick and easy to practice in the classroom.
Peer observation is sharing instructional techniques and ideologies between and among
teachers.Opportunity to learn from each other in a non threatening environment.
Formal observation is important helps us to learn a great deal and be more alert after an
observation.Improves teaching practices and student performance.
Yes I have beenobservedby my senior assistant few months ago. There were positive comments
and of course some commentswhere I need to improve my teaching. I feel it was one of the best
ways for me to develop my own successful.

A formal observation is usually carried out by the school administrator who will schedule prior
arrangements for the time, date, class and purpose of the observation, whereas an informal
observationisnotrevealedinadvance tothe teacherbeing observed. A peer observation is done
by colleagues to obtain feedback based on the lesson being taught in a class. Overall, a formal
observation is a useful tool to assess a teacher's capability and classroom management. As a
matter of fact, I have been observed by my colleague which I find to be a frank and enriching
experience.
