MANAGEMENT AND GROUP CONTROL IN THE
CLASSROOM-NEW CHALLENGES AND SOME
ADVICE

There are different ways to achieve
the control and management of a
group in the classroom. To succeed
you have to know how to teach a
class, teacher ‘s style adapt to it,
taking into account the age of
students , their ethnicity and Socio-
Cultural level, as well as the
personality of the class as a group
and yours as a teacher…
This task is even
more difficult in
recent decades, as the
attitude of students
towards people in
authority has change
dramatically
LET’S BE ASSERTIVE…
Being assertive is to communicate
with others in a clear way, using
hands and appropiate gestures to
make your point across. As well as
to listen to other’s message. When
you know what you want
assertiveness comes in a natural
way.
THERE ARE FOUR THINGS I COULD DO WHEN A
DIFFICULT SITUATION BEGINS..
Listen to my own tone of
voice: Make sure my voice
has a normal volume no
expressing any feelings
VERIFY WHERE I STAND…
Is good to be about a meter from the
student: Being closer can be taken as
an agression.. Being farther can be
taken as ignoring or indifference
Verify that I am on the students line
vision, otherwise students may not
realice that I’m talking to them.
The ideal is to be on students sight at
all times.
BE AWARE OF MY HAND’S POSITION..
Hands should not be crossed, neither in
our pockets or in our hips: That could be
taken as an aggression
Make sure to have my hands open ,
palms directed to the person: This means
a sign of peace
BE CAREFUL IN WHAT I TELL…
What are you doing?
Could you…?
Would you….?
When you address a child do
it with coherence and respect.
Is important for his/ her
understanding and
affection. So You’ll be
promoting their self- esteem
and confidence.
