1. HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT
USE OR CHALLENGE
CONVENTIONS AND HOW
DOES IT REPRESENT SOCIAL
GROUPS OR ISSUE
2. CODES AND CONVENTIONS I’VE USED
-Dim lighting
-A lot of close-up shots to put emphasis on the character and his
expressions to connote the idea of him being disturbed due to melancholic
past experiences.
-The feeling of being all alone, isolated and being on your own. The main
character is shown having flashbacks and panic attack which is shown
through tilted shots to portray disturbance and tension, indicating trauma
and the fact he does not have anything in life to look forward to.
-Used bedrooms as a location.
-Abusive parents/traumatic experience.
3.
4. REPRESENTATION
-Through my media content, I have put focus on the victim only to portray
loneliness and isolation.
-Through age, I have represented the age group of 13-19 as teenagers go through a
lot of experiences. The advent of puberty is the time of immaturity and they are
very emotional, hasty in taking decisions, their minds must be conditioned for that
with multiple experiences which can cause them to understand the reality of the
world in this life. Teenage years inflict many wounds not only from traumatic past or
abusive parents but also from other attributes like peer pressure, bullying, beauty
standards set by the society, inferiority complex.
-Although, mental illness is common amongst all genders, I have approached what
is common through my observation. I have observed that mainly mental illness is
represented through the deteriorating condition, clothing, body language and
expressions.
5. -Class status wise, I have represented my perception of the lower to upper class.
With the perception of the community I live in, those from mid-upper class have
the knowledge of the temporary solutions such as the use of paper bag and as far
as the location and outfits are concerned it represents mid-upper class but also
targets lower class as mental illness is not limited towards status, it can be faced by
anyone.
